DeMar DeRozan To Leave Bulls

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Jul 1, 2024 5:29 pm

DeMar DeRozan will leave the Chicago Bulls this offseason with a source telling the Chicago Sun-Times that their trade of Alex Caruso for Josh Giddey was "the final star" for his departure. At one point, DeRozan was expected to re-sign with the Bulls but they pivoted toward a youth movement.

The Bulls acquired DeRozan in 2021 on a three-year, $85 million sign-and-trade. While the deal was met with skepticism, DeRozan outperformed it and was a Second Team All-NBA selection in Year 1. As the Bulls dealt with injuries to Lonzo Ball and Zach LaVine, the constant over the past few seasons was DeRozan.

“Final Star”? Did they mean final straw?

DD has been a true professional in a chaotic organization in the last few seasons and he is not now forced to leave. Yet a young kid who has shown nothing got an easy 90m contract. What a poor way to treat players. Its no wonder players like PG periodically take nights off and insist on maximizing his pay check.

Curious about where he goes. Orlando and Detroit are the only team with significant cap space at less they do a sign and trade.

Bulls should've traded him
