I said it before, but Russ is a good deal on his current contract. He’s definitely on the downside of his playing career—but he’s a good locker room guy that hustles and leads by example, and can still rebound and pass the ball well. His on/off numbers with us were very good. He’s either a steal for us or a valuable trade chip at just $4 million.

I like the Batum signing a lot—but we still need at least one player from depth at 3, 4 and 5. I’d rather keep Kai Jones than Theis but either is acceptable. And, like I said, I’d love to get Saddiq Bey and, essentially, stash him until the last couple of months next year. I really think he’s a quality starting forward in the league. And/or I agree about Precious Acheiwa, who would be a great addition.

A lot hinges on Porter. If he plays like he’s able to and gets his head on straight, then Bones and maybe even Mann become expendable. I hate to say that about a guy who has had the issues KPJ has had, but that’s the way it is. If he comes out and gets us 10-3-3.5 in 20 mpg, our trade options are actually really good.

The Clippers were willing to give PG 3 years at approximately $50 million and that would have put them in the second apron during the 3 years of KL and PG's extension.

In the fourth year, they'd have gotten big contracts off the books.

So the conclusion is that the Clippers were waving the white flag on the KL-PG core but used the alibi of the second apron to make it palatable.

It was more about roster flexibility. With Philly giving him the max, they now have to sign minimum players and hope they pan out because they don't have money to build the roster out anymore. I prefer depth, youth and athleticism over what PG brings. And scoring was never the Clippers problem. They'll still have plenty of scoring.

If we know anything about this FO it's that they move in silence. If we add Batum and DJJ and find a way to get DeRozan via S&T (at a discount) how much worse off are we? Not to mention we'll be below the first apron and not soaring into the 2nd apron with no way to add guys like Batum or DJJ, or aggregate any salary in a trade.
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

Will the Clippers come close to winning 51 games again?

As harsh as I've been on Frank, he's been doing a good job in free agency so far. Bringing in solid role players who aren't all about to turn 40. We still need a backup big, though.

I think nearly everyone has a shot at 50 in the west. We get someone like DeMarr and we're close, just like everyone else.

The FO finally free to make moves and they’re making really solid ones.

It certainly makes a difference when you have more room to work with.

A lot of defensive options being brought in, very nice.

Goes to show you: Hopes are much more fun than expectations. Pats on the back instead of finger-pointing.

When the mentality was that anything less than the Finals is a failure, everybody was miserable, players and fans alike. Now can we just play some ball and hope for the best?

Are we having fun yet?

Russ, Bones and Powell looking tradable. If we can somehow convince someone to take PJ it would be huge. Looking like a fun team to watch with recent acquisitions.

Kris Dunn is 30? Wow, he's been around for a bit. Solid defender, we'll see if he breaks the rotation. Does this mean Bones could be on the move to get rid of Tucker/Russ? Here's how our roster currently stands:

PG: Harden, (Westbrook), (Hyland), Dunn,
SG: Mann, Powell, Porter Jr
SF: Leonard, Coffey
PF: Jones Jr, Batum, Brown, (Tucker)
C: Zubac

Potential Rookies & Players to resign for the min or 2-way:
- Kai Jones, Daniel Theis, Cam Christie, Tretyn Flowers

14 People Guaranteed. 1 Open Spots and 2 two-way spots. Got Russ, PJ & Bones in brackets because I assume they're still looking to trade them for more cap room. Feel like we got to include Bones for teams to take PJ/Russ into their cap space.

If we can find a team to take those players and free up cap space, could we still make a play for DeRozen?

Oh nice, got Kris Dunn -- I like it!

Always been intrigued by his size at PG and defense. I think he's "gotten overhimself" after some years of bouncing around.

Solid move, and is what the team needs at guard.. someone who will defer offensively, hustle, athletic, but can still score a bit and has improved his jumper from what it was it seems from earlier in his career.

1000000 percent. It doesnt it makes sense to have 3 high paid players anymore for the salary cap. You cant fill out the rest of the roster. With only one 50 million dollar player, Clippers can now make some moves and keep flexible. No one should be on a long term deal.

Happy with the defensive focus, but who'll be left that can hit the pressure 3 if Norm is traded?
