I don't think we've made the final cuts but I'd be surprised if he isn't in the final squad.

Also, Warriors just signed Melton to a 1-year rental for about Josh's salary. So we probably would've ended up paying someone older the same money anyway to be our 3&D guy. And we get to do the same thing DAL did for when we need a contract and a young guy to ship out for that big-name FA Jeff talks into signing. So, nice job ... just hope that post-ASB slump didn't come from him learning the Mavs tried to trade him ... to us.

Timeline also means he held down a starting gig in the NBA finals knowing it, instead of admitting himself into a psych ward like Kai Jones.

So what now is the point of Bryce McGowens?

Matching for further savvy trades this offseason?

That's awesome, I love that we'll have some players in the Olympics this year. Micic, Pokusevski, Green, and Bertans are all competing in Paris. And while Miller may not be competing in Paris, he is on the USA select team to practice against the Olympic squad.

That should be a good experience and something for them to talk about together in the locker room.

Absolutely LOVE this deal. Green is precisely the type of player we needed and hoped to get this off season. He is called by many the most underrated player on the Mavs. Immediately should join our starting core. Gives me hope we can be much more competitive this season with some good health and good fortune.

He went ice cold in the finals, that was death knell as a Mav.

Now they will have Kyrie, doncic and Thompson defending the perimeter and while getting destroyed by quick guards.

I like that the new ownership and front office targeted Green and even when they didn't get him included in the PJ trade they kept pushing and got him anyway in short order. The old group never aggressively pursued trade targets.

Did he primarily guard Tatum in the finals? Tatum struggled mightily other than 2 games. I can't recall.

Watching his highlights from last year, he does so many things well, I’m shocked we got him at this price. Dallas making the push for another star. I’ll take the do everything young Aussie. His passing, floor running, defense, IQ, and finishing is really strong. Shooting is good not great, but his form is solid. His struggles in the finals I’ll chalk up to a learning experience. He fits our group like a glove.

Agree with this.

He was hesitant on offense at times during his time with Mavs, but I really think some of that falls on coaching. It seemed that he would pass up shots to look for a better option, when at times, he should have taken the shot.

Hornets play a bit quicker , which I think will suit him, and his off ball cutting and movement will be great with Lamelo. He was regularly ignored when cutting at Mavs, which could have resulted in another 4+ ppg at least.

And like most Aussies, comes from a very " Team" oriented culture, so will do the grunt work required and fit where needed. By today's standards, he's on a very nice contract.

I've had time to digest this, initially I wanted to save cap to make a run at next season's FA's, but Green is the type of player that in the right environment, which the right coaching, there's no reason he can be the next Josh Hart, which is a player we sorely need. I hope Lee is the real deal and gets this team playing team ball, because he fits great in the starting lineup. Now just need to figure out what to do at the 4 and pray that LaMelo and Mark stay healthy

Green is on the bench but not playing tonight in Melbourne for the Australian Boomers vs China. The Boomers are in an exhibition series in preparation for Tokyo. He will play in two nights on Thursday night (Australian Eastern standard time)

Finally had the chance to look into this. Echoing what a lot of you have already said, he appears to be a hustle guy, high energy, high effort, go after loose balls, etc. We desperately needed someone like that to be in this rotation. He's not a prolific scorer with elite skillsets, but he's a rotational piece for sure and this team lacked depth.

Roster is still lopsided with all of these combo guards. I would not move Mann, I think he's still got untapped potential to be a Dejounte Murray type of guard just needs more consistency. NSJ has too much potential to pass on as well. Definitely does not make sense to bring Bailey back. Idk what we consider Leaky, but he's on the edge of the roster too. Reggie Jackson - think he gets waived or moved again. Micic we kind of need as either PG2 or 3.

This also gives us more flexibility to consolidate in a trade. We need a big in the C rotation badly and we're not going to get one via free agency it seems.
