a 14 mill dollar contract screams insurance policy all over. Garry has had plenty of time to grow into something else, and he is what he is. I can easily see him riding the bench and AB taking all his minutes this year.

Huh?

Either you believe AB and Jett got exponentially better in the offseason, without playing against NBA level competition, or you think Gary Harris has taken a huge step back since mere months ago playing 24mpg.

It's simple really. But I will break it down.

They are worth 10x what Garry is. They are on rookie deals, they are locked to us for the next 5-6 years and beyond (before even their primes)

The front office is not stupid, we built this team on draft picks, and they NEVER trade them. They know the value of those guys, and if they excel, you can keep them in town for a long time without spending 200 mill like you would some aging vet.

And beyond that, there is the practical side. You want your rookies to grow into trade assets. Gary will never be that, those days are over. He is a throw in.

Unfortunately that’s not how things work.

Mosely is the coach and doesn’t care what the perceived value is of rookie contract guys happens to be. He’s going to play anyone that gets him wins now . That’s why there are people not OK with what the minute distribution will be in coordination with the devaluation of lotto pick assets.

Gary Harris is a good role player who was just replaced with a better one. There’s no chance whatsoever AB or Jett play over him unless there is an injury situation like last season for a handful of games.

I'm surprised Tyus hasn't been snagged up yet

“The Magic won 47 games because they were freakishly healthy for the year. That won’t happen again.” Signs significant depth “The front office sucks because they didn’t sign older players with injury concerns.“. Can’t win with you guys!

Who though?

Cole, Jett and Carter also combined make like close to $30M dollars.

No heart or Deandre Ayton? 35 year old Brook Lopez? Washed up Clint Capela?

We need to sign 2011 Dwight Howard. It's just that simple.

Has either one of them shown anything remotely worth trading for besides Blacks defense?

Your question confirms my statement. They would need to be traded so that they can develop. Anthony’s defense and Jett’s offense can very much be developed given playing time.

Maybe a few more years in the G-League and Jett may become a 12 thru 15thh player on a team. Black has a future as a defensive specialist. Most likely as a role player that this team could utilize. Will be up to Black if he can do better. And, he got minutes which was more than Reddick got in the beginning, so people complaining should just sit back and see if he can earn more. This is all up to Black, not the coaching staff.

Yup. Then replaces them with someone similar skill set and a couple years younger.

Moving on to what's next, do we think the Suggs and Franz extensions get done? I assume there's no point in waiting.

Another component of the Gary Harris insurance policy: what if Suggs is holding out for a massive contract?

It’s almost like Mose felt like he had to play the vets when it looked like we were going to get some playoff experience tho…

Suggs is going to get a massive contract and Gary Harris has nothing to do with. He's definitely NOT the answer in case Suggs holds out. Remember, Suggs is our PG now.

3 team trade idea

Magic in: Karl Anthony Towns
Timberwolves in: Brandon Ingram, Den 25 1st and 26 top 5 protected 1st.
Pelicans in: Wendell Carter Jr., Cole Anthony, Anthony Black.

We condense our assets and make a big move.

Suggs,
KCP, Harris, Jett
Franz, Da Silva, Houstan
Paolo, Isaac,
Towns, Bitazde

Then we can add Moe, Joe and maybe even have enough for Tyus jones.

Thoughts?

Goga is a good basketball player and should be in the rotation next season.

Not sure how that's going to happen, but it should happen.

Wow

I'm dying to know where they plan on playing him

To me this, this almost HAS to mean a trade is coming, probably Cole and wcj for a center, it's the only thing that makes sense why you would bring him back for 7m per, it's not to be the 13th guy on the bench

The last 30 games of the season and playoffs were an indicator that he’s going to be paid to be injury insurance and cheerleader.

Mosely played his hand already and we know his Center rotation.

I will point out the KCP signing is getting mad props from our good old buddies at the ringer group chat podcast lol
Fine print disclaimer for Fultz:
I am high on Markelle Fultz. Yes I understand he is not perfect and needs to shoot more and better and turn the ball over less. I would really like to see him play one more year… and I did and he sucks time to move on.

I'm torn on Towns.

On one hand he's a legitimate all-star still very much in his prime at 28 years old. He averaged 22-8-3 on VERY close to a 50-40-90 shooting season and this team really needs more offensive firepower.

On the other hand, he still has 4 years, $220M left on his contract, and I'm just not sure you can be a viable team defensively if he's your starting center.

21-22 was the only year the Wolves were even remotely good defensively (13th) when Towns was their center. They were HORRIBLE on defense every other year of his career.

They obviously had a great defense with Gobert at C and Towns at PF, but he'd be back at center in Orlando.

I'd probably have to pass ultimately.

KCP is a very good role player.

Super durable. Defends his ass off. Hits 40% of his threes, albeit at low volume. Understands how to succeed as a 4th/5th option offensively and isn't going to complain about a lack of shots or anything like that.

He's the exact kind of guy you want around a star talent/talents.

Because years 3 and 4 are club options, and they have to be picked by Oct. 31, 2024 for year 3 and Oct. 31, 2025 for year 4, they don’t really have that much time.
