DG to WASH

Post#1 » by Godymas » Tue Jul 2, 2024 2:21 pm

Washington:
Darius Garland
2025 2nd round pick
2026 2nd round pick
2027 2nd round pick

Cleveland:
Kyle Kuzma
Landry Shamet

Cleveland gets a secondary ball handler that can play defense and rebound next to Mobley. 3 and D with Shamet.

Washington gets to solidify a starting PG to pair with Sarr and Jonas. DG gets to be mentored by Malcolm Brogdon/Tyus Jones. Poole gets less pressure to be the guy and can be more of the catch shoot player he was in GSW

I can't imagine Cleveland would be interested in swapping Garland for Kuzma.

From the Cavs perspective, this has no chance.

I think this trade would need to include Coulobily and at least 2 1st rd picks - 1 from Washington and the 2029 1st that Wash owns from CLE. I could also see CLE being interested in Malcolm Brogdon here.

Brodgon, Coulobily, unprotected WASH pick (2 years after the pick WAS owes to NY conveys - essentially 2027 rolling to 2028), 2029 1st rd pick from Portland

Garland to Wash

I'm not sure that's enough, but the sell for CLE is getting a big wing to play next to Mitchell plus draft picks for future flexibility.

Yeah. I think Cleveland might/could offer Washington a first for Kuz and salary once Garland is traded?

But Washington has no business trading for a young potential star for another year or two at least. They need to fully bottom out again.. And their team seems to understand that by trading Deni.

Say Garland to Orlando, Black, Kuzma and “…” to Cleveland, Cole Anthony and a first to Washington..

I like that better with Portland and Grant. But the idea.

I would hope not. Kuzma is present fulfilling his best role which is a high volume/usage shooter on a lottery team.

Yeah, I would prefer Grant despite making a couple more a year and being older.

But the idea of Kuzma makes sense on the Cavs roster minus Garland. The idea of Kuzma is always better than when you look too closely though, as a Dallas fan we’ve had to deal with those rumors a few times..

Garland makes zero sense for the Wizards. They owe a top-10 protected 1st in 2025 that becomes top-8 protected in 2026 to the Knicks. Thereafter, it turns into two 2nds. They have zero desire to be good in the new two years. The Nets have already surpassed them as the worst team in the NBA. They want nothing to do with wins for the next two years.
