Would the Hornets even trade just cap space for Thybulle having just done effectively an identical deal for Green? I suppose it's not a bad thing to have multiple rotation-level wings that you could flip at the deadline or next offseason for assets, but it seems a bit redundant.

If they're bringing back Miles, they should consider it. Can't have too many good defensive wings on a team that starts Lamelo and Miles.

Not trading the better two-way player on the better contract without actual incentive attached.

Maybe Wade, Niang, and an expiring LeVert for Grant.

Surely you don’t think Portland would accept that with no draft compensation?

I think they'd be cutting Grant's contract by 2/3 over the duration of the deal. They can get draft capital for LeVert at the deadline. I'd add seconds, and if that wasn't enough, I'd be okay going in another direction.

Portlands going to want at least a 1st or a rookie out of trading Grant, especially after they traded for RWIII and he immediately got injured.

How about an asset POR might actually want?

This values him as a salary dump, which the POR FO does not.

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

I honestly don’t see any chance of Grant being traded without returning a first. I would be shocked.

I mean RWIII was a walking injury risk when they traded for him so if they were surprised by that, shame on them. They may pull a first for Grant, they may get cap relief, but I have to imagine if there was a team willing to offer both, Grant would no longer be on the Blazers roster.

I think you’re setting up a false choice and presenting it as fact.

But even if it were true, they would obviously prefer a first to cap relief.

I think the Cavs would trade a protected first or multiple seconds for Grant along with Lavert, Niang, and Jerome but keep Wade.
