I have always loved that type of philosophy.. But of course i'm the type that believes a younger player Can contribute earlier than most others believe they could..
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..

Joe is using him this season. I can guarantee that.

Huge if he’s a viable 20mpg option for three years.

Cs went the Hauser route with Queta, hopefully Queta develops via the Hauser route for the Cs.

Dunno, I doubt he ever becomes that good a 3 pt shooter

Listing of each team's estimated "spending power" right now.

Apologies for the long post, but once again will list out each team's center depth chart, since that's our primary focus in this thread. Only update since I posted yesterday was Bamba to LAC. Also posting the best available centers as well:

Refreshing my C depth charts around the NBA after Goga re-signed with ORL:

ATL - Okongwo/Capela
BRK - Claxton/Sharpe (Clowney can also play here)
CHA - Mark Williams/Nik Richards
CHI - Vucevic/Jalen Smith
CLE - Allen and then technically no backup but Mobley plays here too besides starting at PF
DAL - Gafford/Lively/Powell (Kleber plays here too)
DEN - Jokic/Nnaji/DeAndre Jordan/1st rounder Holmes
DET - Jalen Duren/Beef Stew (would hope for their sake Beef Stew at PF is done)
GSW - Looney/Trayce Jackson-Davis (Draymond plays here too)
HOU - Sengun/Adams/Landale
IND - Turner/Isaiah Jackson (Toppin plays here too)
LAC - Zubac/Bamba
LAL - Ant/Wood/Hayes
MEM - Edey only pure 5 but JJJ and Aldima play here as well
MIA - Bam/1st rounder Ware/Love/Orlando Robinson
MIL - Lopez/Portis
MIN - Gobert/Reid (KAT plays here too)
NOP - only the rookie Missi
NYK - Mitch Robinson/Jericho Sims (Randle plays here too)
OKC - Chet/Hartenstein/Jaylin Williams (not the good Williams lol)
ORL - WCJ/Goga (Isaac plays here some and they have rights on Wagner)
PHI - Embiid/Drummond/B-Ball Paul
PHX - Nurkic/Plumlee (Bol plays here too)
POR - Ayton/Clingan/Timelord/Duop Reath
SAC - Sabonis/Len (Lyles plays here too)
SAS - Collins/Bassey (Wemby plays here too)
TOR - Poeltl/Olynyk (Boucher plays here too)
UTA - Kessler/Eubanks (Collins plays here too)
WAS - JVal/Holmes/Bagley (Sarr could play here too)

Top remaining centers on the free agent market:

Mo Wagner
Precious Achiuwa
Xavier Tillman
Tristan Vukcevic
Dario Saric
Daniel Theis
James Wiseman
Thomas Bryant

Interesting how nearly pointless taxpayer MLE is - and how low all exceptions are compared to rising salaries.

I think Saric could be useful. How is his defense?

I think that they will find another low end player (Tillman, Theis, etc.) and then sign Hauser to a reasonable extension. They'll try for around $8-10M per. 2025-26 doesn't really matter. They aren't keeping the whole team together and paying that tax bill. The Hausers, Pritchards, and even Jrues/KPs of the world can always be traded for picks if their contract is on the low side. Might as well get picks instead of losing them for nothing. That's why the current projection of next year's luxury tax bill doesn't really matter. Some players WILL leave after this coming year. Expect it.

Yeah it’s the next year that’s tough - that’s why they should push all the chips in for the title defense this year, make it happen.

Seems like maybe one of Hoilday or Porzingis will be moved before the start of 2025-2026. Teams are projected to have more cap space next year.

We're all set at center. We need a backup 4 who can move his feet, not get abused on switches, and hopefully knock down a three when open. X, obviously, is the choice, but there are a lot of teams with money out there still (as Smitty's tweet showed). I don't think we'll get him back if all we can offer is vet min. Everybody keeps focusing on available centers when it's a 4 we need.

Saric is a fit on offense, but he's got serious lead feet on D, although at vet min whoever we get will have warts of some sort. Anton Watson is the archetype we need, but he has no experience. Too bad SlowMo would not take vet min. When I look at the available free agent 4's, it's not good. If X signs elsewhere, we might need to trade Springer (and sweetener) to get somebody better than available free agents.

Brad will find a decent solution. He always does.

KP is the guy for me. I know that he's much younger than Jrue. But being available and reliable are far more important for me. He's an expiring after this coming season. He has some value that can jump up significantly if he doesn't suffer additional injuries once he returns in 2025 (unlikely).

If you're the Celtics, you're playing Queta (and hopefully Tillman) like crazy during the next regular season. Some Kornet too. Limit Al's minutes to 20-25 per game with plenty of DNPs - Sore Toe. I would kind of do the same with KP when he returns. Then play them both all out in the playoffs and hope that KP makes it out alive. Trade him based on his higher value right after the season. Hope that all of those minutes to Queta (and Tillman) have groomed them well for 2026-27.

I hope Derozan does not end up on the Heat. He'd be very good there.

Fed owners were the Govt....censoring view points and only allowing certain views, while banning accounts they didn't like. They don't have that control anymore since Elon bought out Jack Dorsey (who was told who/what to censor)....Now you take the good with the bad, but I'd much rather have freedom of speech and decide for myself.

Elon is still censoring. On behalf of the Indian government for example. It's not some free speech paradise as much as he likes to claim it is.

I've heard talk of that, so maybe. He'd be good wherever he goes. I don't want him on the Heat because they're the team I dislike the most, and they've been a pain in our aces for a long time.

That's the moment we'll have to do something and they're probably the best bets to go.

Which is why I liked your idea of taking on multiple bigs to develop.

Word has been that he pops them in with regularity at practice.
