DeRozan is not signing for 5 million so a S&T for Duncan or Herro’s salary slot is the only option.
Honestly if this is the only avenue then I don't think we're getting Derozan.
Probably not

So what's the compensation being sent to the Bulls for this sign and trade? Remember the Lakers and other teams are also in the hunt. Most likely it would be a two year deal for Derozan with the second year being a players option. Remember the Bulls have Lavine so they have no interest in taking on Herro unless a third team is involved.

DeRozan is gonna be 35y, seriously this is not a move that does anything, they'll still be a fringe playoff team after that.
Also you can't really S&T, because then you are commiting 3 full year to DeRozan (S&T must be at least 3 years, not including an option), after Lowry I doubt they are doing that again to have a 38y old DeRozan in his last year.

3rd team seems certain that has to eat some salary. Maybe we found a team that will eat Herro’s salary or maybe it’s LaVine on the way out and Herro is the replacement. I like the possibilities here.

Fully agree.. that s&t doesnt change the fact we are a playin team next season.. just more cap **** we dont need and probably add a second round pick.. pass, let the lakers have him

Miami has a lot of options, here's one possible set of options.
1st would be finding out what it would take to get DeRozan on a 2-1 (team option) contract.
2nd would be getting the cap space to do a S&T with Chicago by moving probably Herro or Robinson for lesser salaries and/or draft assets.
3rd, who knows, maybe you can create enough cap space to S&T DeRozan and resign Highsmith or Martin (if you have enough) or S&T Highsmith and/or Martin and bring back a cheap player and asset from a team without the means of signing either in FA without a S&T.
It all depends on what Miami wants to do; they probably have options.
Then again, it's Miami's FO, they probably want to chance losing DeRozan by only offering him the tax payer exception at 5.2 mil.

He's the vet scorer they've needed since Dragic was done with that injury in the bubble. It does more than you think but I wouldn't expect him to score as much as he did last year.

I agree. He becomes the go to scorer we need in the regular season when Jimmy misses games. He's more consistent and efficient than Rozier and Herro as well.

AirP. wrote:Currently constructed, Miami's current rotation is better than last year. You can build your offense around Butler, Bam and Rozier and lean on Rozier to be your main option/3 level scorer in the regular season with spacers in Robinson/Herro and Jovic. You have a bench of Jaquez Jr, Herro/Robinson, Richardson, Ware, and Love. Can the rotation be upgrade, absolutely but how it is right now, this is a better rotation than last year with a better understanding of both Jaquez Jr and Jovic can bring and now should be integrated into gameplans better. Rozier will be more integrated into the gameplan too.
Are there positions that could be upgrade, absolutely and hopefully a trade does that this summer.
Although I wish Miami did more with the 1st and Lowry's expiring, like add more to the trade package to get an even better player, Rozier can average 20+ as a vet combo guard for Miami for the next couple years.
This is what I'm talking about.
Miami / Chicago / London

Uncle Jerry has made it clear to Pat and Andy that the Bulls will NOT be participating in any multi-team trade with Orlando, not after the UTTERLY ATROCIOUS experience I had on the Mad Tea Party spinning tea cup ride several years ago.
Find another trade partner.

He almost signed with LAL before he decided to take Chicago's money.

Yeah makes sense, he is an LA guy. Now if we offer him more years maybe he considers us? Money is a huge motivator.
So assuming the interest in Derozan is mutual it basically comes down to
A) What will it cost to trade for him, (Draft compensation to the Bulls)
B) What will it take for him to pick us over other teams after him, (Salary and Years)

No DeRozan. He doesn’t exist in playoff.

I believe they still have cap space remaining. I don't think adding 31-year old KCP whom averages 4 3PA per game sufficiently bolsters their shooting woes for their young core. Who knows if they got another move in mind
