This makes me think there may have been some truth to the Sungun and picks for KD trade rumor.

God I wish Ishbia would dump James Jones and hire a better GM/advisor like Bob Myers to make decisions like these.

James Jones still thinks the Suns are gonna “unlock” KD’s potential at age 37 lmfao

Perhaps they are hoping KD becomes available mid-season. At this point, so do I

That's exactly what they're hoping. If they extend those dudes then they have to wait to trade them. They're leaving it open for both guys in case we want 1 (or both) for KD/Book, along with our picks back.

I just don't see Houston moving him. I have to imagine they want to pair KD with Sengun. Giving us their other younger players who they're giving up on, along with our picks back.

Part of me wants to root against us early so we are closer to this reality (of trading KD), however, there's no sure thing they will really want to give us Sengun (which is the only way I consider this type of trade).
Hell, I'd almost do a straight up swap. Nevermind our picks at this point.

Gambo has spoken about PG - Morris or Lowry. Kind of surprised he didn't say Dennis Smith Jr and other names just to cover ALL the bases

I feel like that lady in back 2 the future where she runs up to marty and yells SAVE THE CLOCK TOWER... SAVE OUR FUTURE, TRADE KD.

BWG laid out the Thunder and how Presti trading Paul to the Suns (granted, first he got the Rockets to take Westbrook for Paul and picks) -helped jumpstart the Thunder back to where they are

Granted, I wouldn't trust James Jones to rebuild the roster like Presti did - but it is the move that, like say, is about the future of the franchise.

We could have a time traveler come back from 2032 to Ishbia and say "I've been to the future...trade KD NOW! I'm warning you!"

Ishbia would call him in an idiot.

You way over value Sengun. Why hasn't Houston signed him to a new deal yet? They have the money and I imagine you think he's a top 25 or so asset in the league. Seems pretty cut and dry....

Overall the biggest names I'd be looking at hard positionally would be:

POINT GUARD
1- Kyle Lowry.
Reliable vet floor general.
2- Monte Morris.
Vet playmaker/ ballhandler, POA defense.
3- Dennis Smith Jr.
Big upside swing floor general swing.
4- **Pat Bev**
To be our edgy vet vocal accountability/ tough guy/ villain. And give plus an edginess.

Shooting Guard
1- Seth Curry.
Knockdown shooting, ballhandling vet.
2- Garrison Matthews.
Edgy tenacious 3 point sniper.
3- Vincent Valerio Bodon.
6'9 high energy jumbo wing 3 point sniper with moxy and defense.
4- Damion Lee.
Floor spacing, vet experience, familiarity.

Small Forward
1- Robert Covington.
Starting SF for defensive versatility??
OR
2- Gordon Hayward.
Starting SF for offensive versatility/ playmaking/ floor spacing??
3- KJ Martin.
SF for defensive versatility and athleticism.
4- Mo Harkless.
SF for defensive versatility and floor spacing, vet experience.

Power Forward
1- Daniel Theiss.
Strong defense, physicality and 3 point shooting, rebounding.
2- Vlatko Cancar.
Two way versatility/ floor spacing, energy.
3- Mike Muscala.
Size, floor spacing, physicality, grit.
4- Dario Saric.
Vet experience, passing, some floor spacing and effort play, familiarity.

Center
*** Not terribly concerned. Maybe reassess around the deadline. But IF LOOKING, I'd target a 3 point shooting 5 like:
1- Mike Muscala.
2- Meyers Leonard.
3- Pter Cornelie (overseas player that briefly played for the Nuggets.

My dream offseason outcome would be:

Beal / Booker / Covington / KD / Nurkic.

Lowry / Allen / O'neale / Theiss or Cancar or Gordon / Plumlee.

Gillespie / D Lee / Dunn / Bol / Ighodaro.

I just am not sure he wants to eat crow 18 months after making the trade for Durant.

But this is the offseason at least for one more year - if not two until Beal is done
no flexibility cap wise
no real trades
missing draft picks
signing vet minimum players
roster keeps getting older

If the Suns could somehow bring Tyus Jones in, that would be the best move the team’s made in Ishbia’s tenure.

Sell him on a 1 yr vet min deal on a team with high visibility so he can go get paid next year.

You know what the worst part is? There are idiotic fans who will say next summer or the year after “Oh well nobody could’ve predicted that this team would fail, it was worth the shot, at least Ishbia gave it a run, we should appreciate him for that!!”.

It’s already happened with the KD trade with posters here who saying BS like “Oh nobody though KD trade would end up this bad, oops hindsight is 20/20”, like no not all of us are idiots, many of us have a brain and said it when the trade was announced how stupid it was. Hell most of us even said it back when there were rumors about trading for KD.

I will say this - the one time I drank the KD Kool-Aid was the jumper against Dallas in the SPring of 2023. I thought, not too many players in the league, just not the Suns, the league - make that shot.

That said, when Flex dropped his bomb like Jun 30 two years ago - I got caught up. But by early the next week, a few days later, July 4 time frame - I didn't want anything to do with Durant - especially at the cost of Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, cap filler and 4 FRPs.

I tweeted with Bob Young - he was like "for a 27 year old Durant, sure but not a soon to be 35 year old"

If the Suns could have got Durant without giving up BRidges and maybe only a couple firsts - sure, you do it. I thought they made it when they got out of the summer but all of the sudden, the NBA fast tracked Ishbia, the day before the deadline, are you kidding me - and the guy in his delirium or whatever of owning a team made a stupid trade.

But you add in the new CBA + the Beal trade -- and its hard to think they will win with this group. Hence, blow it up now when Durant has max value

Philadelphia has interest in Lester Quinones, league sources told HoopsHype. The 76ers were also linked to veteran Reggie Bullock, per Kelly Iko of The Athletic.

Lastly, Kyle Lowry is still a possible candidate to return, but the Suns also have interest in his services.

Michael Scotto saying that we are interested in Lowry too...he must be our first option at PG and if he declines will try to get another one.

The thing is pretty much the whole board was like No Bridges, thats the only thing I cared about. We traded away this generations Dan Majerle before he even hit his prime. Heart and Soul of this team gone. Cant put a value on that.

I doubt the Suns can get both Morris and Lowry - but maybe Lowry and Payne. Be nice to have two point guards

Plus I thought Bridges next to Booker and Durant was a very good fit. Ayton, Bridges, Booker, and Durant.

Wizards just sign JVal - but do you think Ishbia would include the 2031 in an S&T with Nurkic for Tyus Jones

Little for Tyus Jones isn't getting it done

Monte Morris - it is. Better than Payne and other options, maybe even Lowry. If he can find some old magic from Denver days...
