Supposedly, and I'll believe it when I see it, Ainge really likes Herro. Get a first for him and cap space, even if we don't get DD.

Who’s jovic favorite player? He doesn’t seem to have any signature moves. Most of his moves are very minimal if that makes sense?

Are pieces that will transition to the new core, Miami may be able to carve out a player or two more before that time. Taking on a Derozan or somebody who doesn’t cost you one of those pieces and doesn’t tie up cap space in an offseason where Miami can add potentially 2 max players is the goal. You may not like it you may not have the patience for it but that offseason is 2010 2.0
Notable UFA in 2026
Luka
Embiid
Trae Young
SGA
Fox
This has been the thinking for some time and it’s difficult for a front office I am sure to openly communicate something like that this far out, but the idea of adding Luka and SGA potentially as far fetched as it is to a core like that is something that should be protected as adding one of those guys is a franchise altering move.
Let’s just look at the Mavs for example. They have an aging Kyrie and Klay Thompson in a very tough growing Western Conference. If they can’t get over the hump these next two years are they in a position to keep Luka? I don’t think so. Luka could find himself in a similar position as LeBron entering the 2010 free agency.
The pitch to Luka isn’t a hard one
Hey we are going to give you the best Coach in the game
Bam
Jamie
Niko
Ware
Oh and we can bring in another max player with you
If a short term upgrade can be had great, but as a fan I have no issues riding out these next two seasons until that summer arrives

What are you basing this Ainge really likes Herro on?

A full season with Roizer starting, adding Demar and moving Herro to the bench might have a better offense than we think. Atleast better than last season lol

This fan base would trade Herro and a first to acquire someone off of this forum if they could. I just ignore it at this point. It's one thing to trade him for something sensible. Remember when everyone wanted Duncan traded for those slumps?

He's not, just check his playoff stats, absolutely awful and he is 35y now, no thank you.
He was horrible in the playoffs when he was in Toronto but he's gotten better while staying the #1 option, he's not going to be the #1 option in the playoffs for Miami, just the regular season. His career average in the playoffs is nearly 22 ppg but took nearly 19 shots.
Right now, at SG, Herro has a career playoffs average of 14.3 ppg on 12.7 shots.
DeRozan isn't a good defender, but he's better than Herro is and can play the 2-4, he played PF in San Antonio.
It's a short term move to get DeRozan for an upgrade on the roster, this isn't a long-term option, maybe Miami can time the older player's contracts to be expiring all at the same time to have a chance to make some big moves in free agency also S&Ts for a soft rebuild around Bam.

We made it to the finals with Lowry. As a matter of fact I would say Lowry was a lot more important to our first seed and finals run then Herro was.

Wouldn't Jaime and Niko be up for contracts at that point too as well? Not sure if we'd be able to afford two max players.

I'm not talking about the impact he had the first couple of years just the length of the contract. Derozan on anything more than a 1+1 isn't interesting.
