Re: The Official 2024 Offseason Thread Part 2
Morris should help cut back the turnovers that plagued us all season - but that’s also on KD as the biggest culprit in coughing it up. Reducing turnovers is the lowest hanging fruit.

Man...just like Royce we're years too late but if Monte can get back to physical form he was arguably the league's best backup PG for a time.

I like it especially considering the restraints we have roster construction wise. Can hit 3s reliably and most importantly takes care of the ball

It worked out well last time we had any player named Morris on the team.
Jk, this is a solid signing. He had a down year with Minnesota but hopefully that’s because he was recovering from injury. He isn’t old as dirt like Lowry either which is nice.

OK with Monte Morris.
I also kinda want one of Lowry or Beverly. We need that guy that vocally calls out players for slacking off... KD, Booker and Beal aren't very vocal.

I'm not terribly surprised as he's flown under the radar for a bit now playing low-usage/low-minutes roles with mediocre teams for a bit now. But still has that unrealized potential and versatile skillset too. Although not ideal, there will be a few options for us out there that can suffice in a limited role, IF we don't look for a more desirable option in trade. It does look if there are already at least three teams pivoting to rebuild in order to try and secure a high lotto pick for the 25' draft. They might have fire sales soon and more point guard options should become available?

So it's Monte, eh? Wonder just how much he will play seeing there's no way they are starting him, so I guess it's another year of Point Book and frustration.

I wouldn't mind Cam Payne being signed over Josh Okogie at this point.

At least we know he's in state, right?

Well played
Plus it might be a little less Point Book
Meaning - start Morris at PG and have Beal come off the bench.
I guess have to see what Bud has in mind

For once ‘No Payne, No Gain’ does not apply
Not inking that over exuberant lil chucker is a relief. And the d*** should have said he was Rod Johnson

Feeling good about signing Monte Morris. He had a tough year coming back from injury, but he's only 29 and has plenty of air in the tires. If he can get back to near his Denver level, we can easily slot him in for EGs 25+ minutes per game while being a far better roster fit. Probably best case scenario for a minimum contract.

Re: The Official 2024 Offseason Thread Part 2
I'll take Monte Morris. He has an incredibly low turnovers per game stat while also yielding a decent number of assists, particularly in his 2021-22 season and 2022-23 season. His FG% was great too. This is definitely a low-risk high-reward type of play IMO.
PG: Beal / Morris / Gillespie
SG: Booker / Little / Bridges
SF: Allen / Royce / Roddy
PF: Durant / Bol / Dunn
C: Nurkic / Plumlee / Ighodaro
Does the above look correct so far?

Bridges and Gillespie are two way players - so thats two roster spots
I think I hold off on Lee - even Okogie - see what shakes out later. With Dunn Roddy and Little, Suns have enough non-scorers

Jalen Bridges is a 6-9 power forward, not a guard. But don't matter both he and Gillespie won't be playing much. Will spend a lot of time in the new Suns G league. Wouldn't put them on the depth chart this early.
That said, terrible roster. I was really hoping the dismantle that Beal/Book backcourt. Either bench or trade but fully understand the latter can't happen.
At the moment, I'd speculate the depth chart as follows:
G - Beal Morris SIGN*
G - Booker Allen LEE*
F - O'Neal Dunn Little
F - Durant SIGN* Bol
C - Nurkic Plumlee Ighodaro
*SIGN yet another point guard. Third string veteran such as Pat Bev
*LEE bring back Damion as your third string shooting guard
*SIGN another power forward such as Covington. You'll need to waive Roddy in order to make this work since no more room in roster but doubt that will be an issue. You need length.

Looks like a YMCA championship-level team to me.
To compete for a title, I feel like we need perfect health, Beal to have an MVP-caliber season, Morris to regin form, Bol to be a 6MOY candidate, Dunn to have an Herbert Jones-like rookie season... and even then, I don't think I'd be confident. My eyes just can't unsee last season.
Anyone here optimistic about our chances this season? I could use some hopium.

7-10 play in scenario is where I see the team at best
Hence, why the earlier comment about KD if the Rockets were serious
