Portland won't (well, I would be shocked) just salary dump JG. All rumors are that while the Blazers are willing to part with him, they aren't going to do it on the cheap. I don't see any way the Blazers would trade Grant to LA without any FRPs coming back in return.

I agree with this thinking. It is also why I think it doesn't happen until closer to the trade deadline.

My 1/2 cent.

I disagree, I think it's much more likely a deal gets done in the offseason with him.

Grant is a significant enough starting quality player that teams will want that before the season starts so he can get a full camp in with the new team and understand the system. Trying to plug in a new starting PF mid-season at the deadline is a much tricker thing to do because you've lost out on all that time in camp and working out kinks during the first month or so of the season.

Agreed. I see zero reason Portland and la aren’t in constant comm right now about it as a matter of fact, just ironing out the details.

According to Marang (his annoying personality aside, he does have legit connections to people in the league), picks are the one thing right now both Portland and LA are negotiating over with a JG trade.

He also said that as of right now, he's not convinced Simons will be on the roster to start the year either... but sounded a bit more like a tossup.

Why would any other team give up FRP's for the poo-poo platter of salary filler the Lakers are gonna have to give up to match JG's salary tho?
I was thinking if we could not get a frp maybe we get a desirable player :-?

Same question still applies, just replace "FRP" with "desirable player(s)". I don't think Rui has as much value as Laker fans want to believe, and Gabe Vincent is arguably a negative value player, he's practically unplayable and making 11mil.

Rob Palenka said today they're willing to give up FRP's to improve the roster this summer. I would have to imagine the Lakers are trying to get Grant with only 1 FRP, Blazers are probably demanding 2 of them... maybe the Lakers are willing to give 2 firsts but there is negotiations around protections... regardless, the longer FA drags and the Lakers don't get things done, the more leverage the Blazers have over LA.
It would have to be a player from a 3rd team

Given the known talks between the teams, the Klutch connection... it's hard to imagine that this deal doesn't end up getting done in some shape or form this week or next.

Also wonder if maybe Vincent isn't a sticking point and Portland not wanting him... They might be pushing for Vanderbilt instead, Portland had known interest in Vanderbilt in past seasons.

I'm sure the Crone Zone is sitting back, and letting the offers come to them.

Who are the viable trade partners that missed out on PG and Klay?

Lakers, Kings, ....who else?
Rip City, baby!!!!

Your right he is the only player or pick on either team that could he deemed desirable or could get a deal done, and quite honestly Grant is pretty meh also.

When? As a matter of fact he is a 13/4 guy over 10 years and has never once hit 21 and 5 in the same year EVER.

Hell If you really look deeper Hachimura is a better player today and makes 10 million less per year, and at minimum a 3rd or 4th fiddle on a team with 2 players in the top 25 last year. Grant was the best player on his team or at least 2nd best and well he was quite MEH. Hach and a 1st or two would be quite attractive actually.

I dont think they have near the assets to get him. They can trade 2029 and 2031 FRP and some swaps.

Lauri should return something similar to Mikal - not quite as much but something similar.

Do you watch basketball? Genuinely curious for anyone who would say Hachimura is a better player than Grant. That's absolutely just factually wrong with any lens you want to look through it at.

Whatever tho dude, I'm not interested in getting in a back and forth with you on Rui vs Jerami... you do you. With all that said, I've clearly said I'm fine with the idea of trading Grant to LA for the deal of Hachimura, salary filler (Vanderbilt or Vincent) and FRPs. I would probably be ok with just one FRP if the salary filler is Vanderbilt. If the Lakers want to unload Gabe Vincent's bad contract, I would want 2 FRPs.

Yeessh.... doubling dipping for more Isaac seems like a terrible bet, but you do you Orlando.

I like that gamble for ORL - JI is a game changing defender when healthy. 16M AV for him is peanuts. If he stayed healthy this year and hit FA in 2025 I bet he would be looking at 22M+ offers.

Ain't no way LA is getting Lauri. They don't have the juice, as the kids say.

Reportedly the GSW are going to pivot to Lauri. Perhaps the loser of GSW/LA ends up with

Marang is like the biggest Ant cheerleader in the local media. If he's not convinced Simons is on the team at the start of the year..

I HAVE FAITH! HOPE! (Seriously this is no slight to Ant at all, great kid, I think he'd make a great sixth man on a contender.. just wrong timeline, wrong position for us imo).
