I dont think Mavs fans need to worry, there's no way this Slovenia team gets past Greece in the SF and if by some miracle they do they'll have a rematch against Croatia.

Slovenia at some point was 6/30 from 3 and their coach has no idea how to defend the paint. What a pathetic display. Don't even know how Luka got to a triple double with this....

Yup 2 miracles needed. That’s 70 minutes combined minutes as all the Mavs fans watch in horror. (Luka still playing with Slovenia trailing by 25 pts, Thibs must be a consultant for their NT. LOL)

And this is why the NBA does not want to loan their players to their respective NTs.

They should be happy that Luka is playing instead of gaining weight

A lot of Luka's weight gain happens during international play. He parties like crazy with team Slovenia. He hasn't had an offseason yet without a lot of international play where he can finally focus on getting his body right

Yep, the same guy! I think after a stint in Magic's G-league team he played in the BIG3 (Aliens Team if I'm not mistaken), then some other weird basketball "league" in US, where the winners would win 1 million dollars (do not remember what was the name, but I suspect the quality was not super high). And then last season he returned to Europe, first part of the year he played in Turkey and the second part in Spain. He was a Euroleague level player, when he went to the US, now not anymore, but still a quality 8th-9th player on a FIBA team I would say.

Yeah!! some 5.5hrs until the first games, getting excited!

Man.. talk about journeyman. Why does he travel around the world to play ball?

Because that is quite literally his job.

I mean... why doesn't he stick to one league or something.

Italy will surely win big but will they cover the -39.5 spread? Feels like a trap and they’ll slow down come fourth quarter.

I dont know anything about this Bahrain team but FIBA released some power rankings for the OQTs and they had them last so I'd expect a huge blowout similar to what Spain did to Lebanon.

Dončić gains weight partying on Croatian islands with Shaq

Slovenian basketball just like Croatian is in big downfall to be honest. 10-15 years ago they had great talent level of 10-12 high level players, but they all missed some superstar to take them to next level. Now they have superstar, but supporting cast is lower level.

Šarić and Dončić had TD

His stint in the US was probably an attempt to realize his NBA dream but the rest doesn't seem that out of place. Non-star players change teams all the time, whether they play in the NBA or in Europe. The difference is that teams in Europe are scattered across the continent and play in a number of different leagues (both domestic and continental) whereas the NBA is just that. The NBA. You could be playing in Golden State or in Washington and it's still the same league, it's still the same country. But Baskonia, Olympiacos and Khimki do not play in the same domestic league and they're not in the same country. They did play at the same continental competition when Timma was there, they were all EuroLeague teams, but the continental competition is only a part of the whole equation (albeit the most important and prestigious).

61 pts win for Italy over Bahrain. Gallinari leads with 14 pts, 7 Italians in double figures, 11 with at least 6 pts.

Lithuania beats Mexico 96-81, 5pts lead at the half but they put the game away in the 2nd half.
Lithuania not looking very good, won thanks to their vastly superior talent. Grigonis continuing on his hot streak from the end of season with Panathinaikos. He's the only one who wanted to take charge of things, Jokubaitis, Sedekerskis, Motiejunas and Sabonis were all too passive.
Surprised by Mexico, didnt know much about the team but they played well and kept the game competitive.

They started the game 0-9. After that it was fine. Grigonis as often just flat out our best player, especially when Jonas is out. I think Lekavicius was very good, Butkevicius and Sedekerskis were good, I think team looked fine, could have won by 25, but let go of gas at the end. Defens is undoubtfully a problem tho, outside of Butkevicius, no one played good on defense.

Sabonis tho is just terrible. If he didnt have club numbers that justifies him being there, we would just say its nepotism. On court, it really looks like he doednt belong, but his name is Sabonis. There is a huge difference between dissapointing and just sucking.

In unpopular opinions thread, I have mentioned my friend, who completely quit on this guy, and thinks NBA is a joke. NBAs rep took another major hit in my country no doubt, because once again, NBA star player looks like he doesn't even belong to be on this team. I bet my friend will message me after he wstches this game, csuse just few days ago, I defended Sabonis, made every excuse.

Checked the boxscore, his stats werent the worst, if you just checked that, you would have thought he was fine. 5 TO in 22 minutes seems bad, but when watching, I thought he had way more. Almost everything he does is a turnover, no other player would be allowed to push the ball and try passes this guy does, but he is " NBA star" so he can do that.

Coach is a bit at crossroads, cause in theory, his career suggests he has the ability to be great player, and you play him through the struggles in hope he starts playing well, but on the other hand, he is pretty bad.

It's because every single point counts. If you can shave that 25 point deficit to 18, it can potentially make a huge difference in the final groups standings. That's Slovenia was eager to get 2 free throws at the very end of the game. The Euroleague and many domestic leagues are the same. Teams play until the final buzzer sounds.

That said, yes, some rest would probably do Luka good, though I believe he would just be lazy, drink and gain weight, but it could still help his overall health. Plus, the positive emotions from drinking booze and eating can still be beneficial.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

This is not it. Their group is Croatia, New Zealand, Slovenia. They're getting that number two seed and the race for number 1 seed was lost right here. New Zealand would need something crazy to win a game, +/- most likely means jack in this group. They lost that game, just sit your guys, now they HAVE to win 3 games on 4 nights either way.
