This didn't age well. It was about a minute later that Kyle was gone.

The value is getting a TPE, usable because it was created in this season. And under the new CBA, TPE’s can be used to sign FA’s.

GSW doing us a favor for the pick swap, and so is SloMo, who could have simply signed with GSW

Forgot to ask, if we use the TPE like an MLE can we break it up, or does it have to go to one player?

I think you got that backwards where the MLE can be used to trade for players now or claim them off waivers.
TPE's can be used for sign and trades.
Pretty sure you can't just outright sign a player with a TPE.

I used the tweet to show the exchange, it wasn’t my actual opinion. Good to know about the TPE in this situation. That is honestly all I wanted from him in the first place.

I remember you wanting us to sign him now to trade him midway through the season. Do we get a TPE for the full value of his new deal?

I think so. I wanted Kyle gone, I wanted a TPE. I am happy. Good work TC :) 8-)

Yup backwards. Plus the new rules have me scratching my head.

Well something is better than nothing and it should give us a better 2nd round pick.

Pretty much all the dominoes have fallen. Morris and Kyle gone. Hopefully Dilly, Miller and Shannon are ready to play some meaningful minutes.

I hope TC has the jet gassed up to bring the boys to Jordan McLaughlin's house to recruit him back before it's too late!

You have me confused now. Can we or can we not sign a free agent with a TPE?

So many of us were saying we should get rid of Kyle. It would be addition by subtraction. We will find out.

The new second apron rules say we can’t use a TPE from a sign-and-trade!

Also, “not allowed to sign-and-trade your own free agent if the incoming amount puts you over the second apron.”

I think I get why Marks deleted the tweet.

It didn’t occur to me at first because I am not familiar with sign and trade rules, but if we are sending salary out and not taking it back isn’t that when the TPE is created? Honestly asking as this is not an area I am super familiar with.

Yeah we can't use it until we are below the 2nd apron, and we can't go over the 2nd apron using it.

This is just a nice guy move to get Kyle where he wanted to go.

I don't think he will want Draymond punching him the way Rudy did.
He would end up in the hospital.

Correct. And in the past, many teams would incentive teams to do a sign-and-trade rather than simply use their cap space, so they would have a TPE for later.

The newest rules for second apron teams have further restrictions. I’ll be anxious to see what Marks says, when he retweets.

Is this enough to get us in the Tyus Jones sweepstakes?

I'm not even sure I'd want him standing in Dilly's way.

Okay, that makes sense. Too bad for MIN. Second Apron rules nip us here.

So a second round swap. In 2031 or when?

No swap. We couldn’t trade.

Correct. There is a TPE created for the team taking back less salary than it sends out in every trade for the amount they are short.
IMHO it's a stupid rule and loophole exploited over and over by big spenders to keep being big spenders.
Should have been eliminated when they implemented all those extra tax penalties.
The Players Association likes it because it's an extra avenue to get players more money.

We end up with a stupid system where every loser who ever averaged 20ppg can get a max contract because of the soft cap.
If we had a hard cap like hockey teams would have to be a ton more careful about how much money they hand out, and there would be a lot more player movement. In the NBA, every player a team is scared of losing just ends up with a max contract, whether they deserve it or not.
