Bruno might not have been mature mentally but his skill level was nowhere near this raw.

Bruno didn't have Chomche's fight, athleticism or tenacity. Also, when he was drafted he didn't really play on his senior team. He was mostly playing on the feeder team.

I'm probably the biggest Bruno fan on this board and I followed his development really closely. Chomche seems more ready mentally and physically.

Bruno and Chomche who were more “raw” is the point here. What we should be emphasizing is their ability to adapt the NBA culture, lifestyle and the eagerness to improve. If Chomche has those intangibles he will become a NBA player one day. We had seen it with Banton who were rumoured clubbing every night. Over the years he showed no signs of improvement, and probably has his foot out of the league very soon.

Bebe had alleged problems with alcohol and was once accosted by my roommate outside of the lcbo for loose change, where he pretended not to speak English. Didn't make it. I'd be surprised if he had a Kobe Bryant like obsession with basketball or close. People would say Mac was lazy but talent won out there, same with VC arguably.

I am kind of curious if Ulrich will have a better career than Tidjane Saluan. Both are pretty raw prospects, but I feel like Chomche is going to protect the rim and just be a factor while Salaun seems like he has a bigger learning curve.

He may be the most intriguing second last pick in a weak draft class ever.

I don't think I have ever seen a professional basketball player look so lost on the court but the way he can move his feet make my eyes pop out of my head. He will also be a deflections king if he can stay on the court with those reflexes.

He has the tools and we have teachers. He's probably 3 seasons away from getting on an NBA floor on the most optimistic end and more likely to never make it as a positive contributor - but as far as end of the draft bets go - I make this move 10 out of 10 times.

He's a unique athlete and if he actually hits he could be a really unique player.

Not gonna lie, I would have drafted PJ Hall over this guy. But now that he’s here, hopefully he proves me wrong. He should be stashed in the G-league for 4 years until he’s ready.

Didn’t realize Cashiggy uploaded his vids, these are great for looking at all his possessions and not just his highlights:

Looks like the Monstars stole his talent half the time.

In the last 10 drafts 16 international players have gone in the bottom 5 picks, only two got contracts. One is currently a Raptor and wants out.

Anybody who even thought Bruno was more developed than this kid is now is crazy.

Just his mentality towards the game is far beyond anything Bruno could ever be.

We have a lot of serious people now.

Davion, Barrett, Shead, Walter, maybe Chomche. All serious, no-nonsense approach on the court. It'll be interesting to see how Darko uses these guys and what our defense looks like this year.

Man, I joked about drafting this guy and we actually did it.

But now I can't wait to see him develop.

Damn you mystery box.

In the limited clips I've seen of Chomche, and reflecting on early Bruno, Chomche's athleticism looks more functional on a basketball court. I've seen some crazy clips of him closing out hard, stopping on a dime, sliding his feet to cover a ton of ground to contest at the rim. When Bruno tried that, it looked like he was knee-deep in mud. I've also seen clips of Chomche absolutely bricking shots in the paint, so Bruno had way more shooting touch.

I think that fact that Bruno flashed perimeter skills ultimately hurt his NBA outlook. It made things too complicated for him; if people haven't kept up with him, he looks much more at home playing the role of a big man. I don't think anyone can have illusions about Chomche playing on the wing, so hopefully the simplified role of a big man can lessen his learning curve and give him a better shot at sticking long term.

Now that Shead has officially been announced, I think it's telling that we still haven't heard about Chomche officially from the team. If he's left off the summer leauge roster, that pretty much confirms that they plan to stash him away outside the G-League. Do we know when the Raptors will release their roster?

All that matters is that he's a Raptor. Don't really care where he plays next year. But I suspect that it'll be in the g-league.

He looks serious about basketball. More athletic then Koloko. Plays harder then Bruno or Nogueira. Big project though, but I'd be surprised if he doesn't make it onto an NBA floor someday. Masai never gives up on his picks.

This is Masai's redemption for Bruno's failures. If the Raptors 905 is known for development...you have an 18 year old with all the physical tools. Now teach him how to play basketball at a high level. Teach him how to be a man.

It's been years since the last success story (not including Scottie). We are due for one any time soon.

Bruno was also drafted during a time when his physical measurements dictated his playing position. There was no way rookie Bruno could have played as a bigman.

Bruno's footspeed looked really slow even based on limited pre-draft highlights.

Chomche may be rawer than Bruno in some areas. Balls were bouncing off his hands on rebounds and some of his shots in the paint were going off the top of the backboard.

I mean, international or not, there are like 5-6 guys total that have contracts.

Bruno was also too weak to play a big man role. Pick your poison, I guess.
