What will the Celtics do with the last roster spot?

Only one roster spot is still available. What do you think will happen?

Boring but I think they leave it open, at least in terms of guaranteeing money.

I assume Peterson gets a 2-way, is that what his QO was, a 2-way contract offer?

Yep, this. If someone really impresses in camp or something else pops up we really like, use it. But that seems unlikely. So, open.
2-way for Peterson, Watson. Maybe JD? Or use the last 2-way for Enaruna.

I think if we wait and see if any good fa left bc we’d rather leave the spot open than on some bum who will cost a ton with added taxes it’ll be a self fulfilling prophecy. We should pursue now whoever we’d be interested in if they were still left.

Open for now, fill it if the right situation materializes…like when used the open roster spot to sign Queta last year.

If Brissy leaves I think we will definitely need to replace his athleticism.

Where we get that, I don’t know. Maybe Lonnie Walker but he’s another guard we probably don’t need.

Right now I think leave it open. A man can only take so much good news, I'd rather wait and have some delayed gratification. The team is already loaded and ready.

It would be a cool story to see Davision get his day. I dunno, doesn't seem like the team is big on him. He had a great season in G-League though.

I changed my JD avatar for Begarin. Maybe the team will bring over Begarin, but not likely.

I just don't see Davison doing another Maine year. Sign him or let him go.

Bottom line: we're in no rush to do anything now so let's see what we got in summer league before filling that spot.

Now that Kyle Anderson is going to Golden State at 9M/year, Kris Dunn is headed to the Clippers, Aaron Holiday got $10M from Houston for 2 years; I'm still intrigued with one of Cedi Osman, Gordon Hayward or Robert Covington as a stretch 4 when Tatum is off the floor. Some may say they are really SFs, but Hayward isn't that quick anymore and all 3 play bigger than their 6' 7' to 6' 8" height. Plus, they are WAY MORE SKILLED THAN TILLMAN, if any of them will sign for minimum.

PG
Derrick White
Payton Pritchard

Jrue Holiday (can play PG)
Jaden Springer
Jordan Walsh

Jaylen Brown

Baylor Scheierman

PF
Jayson Tatum
Xavier Tillman

Center
Al Horford
Luke Kornet
Neemias Queta
Kristaps Porzingis (possibly out until January)

The list of guys that can outplay Empty Roster Spot is pretty thin now. Who is left?
Give minutes to the young guys unless you can really add someone that can make a difference…I don’t think you can. No **** Hayward, no **** Cedi Osman. Please no riff raff like that. And please please please, no Svi, that dude must have been a really good guy because he sucked ass.

Keeping it open is the best option.

Is Jaden Springer definitely coming back?

Yes, he is.

Unless he gets traded.

Jaden is already under contract. So he's coming back, unless they trade him.

Very quiet about him news-wise; maybe that's a good thing. I think he'll contribute this year. Great defense and he can play some point. Needs to learn the sets and improve his shot.

I’d personally use it now for the best ring chaser available.

But I think they try to follow last year’s script to the letter which means leave it open for now — fill later in the season if needed/possible.

If someone like Cedi Osman, Lonnie Walker or Dario Saric wanted to come to Boston for the vet min then I would do it otherwise leave it open.

For the Cs, every dollar counts because of the tax.

So no need for a 15th man.

Different story if Tillman left.

Keep it open and let the kids play as much as possible
If a ring chaser that wants to be here and will not disrupt the chemistry - you can bring him - someone ala P.J. Brown in 2007-08. Or a feel good story - Isaiah Thomas, Blake Griffin back from retirement etc

I think their preference is to keep it open, but if they have to use it to bring back Davison, they may go with that.
