My uninformed fan, still made at the Deni trade take on this guy - Davis Bertans. Pugdy, good shooter.
Can't say I do. Who else gonna shoot?

Re: Kyshawn George
Was able to find his per 36 numbers in the French u21 B division: 22.6 points 8.3 rebounds 4.9 assists 3.0 steals 1.0 blocks 5.7 turnovers (!) 44/33/73 shooting.
Same year in which Bilal was the best player in the U21 A division. Looks like Kyshawn didn’t get much playing time with the French pro B senior team. Leaves to play in the NCAA the following year with an absolutely terrible Miami team.

imagine having a 23 year old Caldwell-Pope averaging $12m over the next 4 years. Go study the apron rules, look at how many contenders are going to have to gut their team because they can't afford their 4th and 5th starters and then tell me we got some great value

What can I say, zonkerbl, but if you think he’s mediocre — a kid still developing, btw, who put up 15 and 7 last year, with defense, with playmaking — then … you don’t really think that, do you? Really and truly?
And you can’t really and truly be a fan of character, I don’t think, if this doesn’t gut you. Sure, we all want to see a good team, a great team — but we all want guys like this who love this city and want to be here and grow as players and as people, and who are heartbroken when they’re shipped out of town to stick to the dictates of the timeline blah blah. If you’re not at least a little heartbroken for him and for me and all of us as fans of this godforsaken team, I don’t know what to say.
A team, by the way, I’ve bled for since I was 8.
I say this in all earnestness and just a little provocation: this is more my team than it is Will Dawkins’s. It’s a big job for him. But I’ve been here longer. And it means more to me, far more — and on a deeper level — than it will ever mean to him.

which is precisely what makes this guy, whose mediocrity is useless to us right now, extremely valuable to a playoff contender. He's more valuable to us if we trade him away for assets we actually need. I'm not saying we got them but come on. You did the math yourself, now think through your own reasoning to the logical conclusion.

Yeah and if they got "extreme value" I wouldn't be as upset. If they got pick 7 or the "most favorable" I could at least justify it. It seems to me like they zeroed in on a late lotto prospect or two, couldn't find another taker and settled for this offer as "good enough"

FWIW, Kevin Pelton had him as his #9 prospect in the draft based on his metrics system. Had Sarr #2 and Bub #15.

Once the draft is over, it doesn’t matter where you were picked, it matters can you play. In 2021 Franz Wagner (#8) and Alperen Sengun (#16), in 2022, Jalen Williams (#12) and Nikola Jovic (#27), and other examples of players who have outplayed those who were supposed to be better prospects. Of course, the higher the pick the better the chance but outside of the top 3-5, the odds are fairly similar.
We truly have no idea how it will play out but is the difference between Pick 7 and Pick 14, in a draft such as this, that big of a deal? Hell, if you look at the tiers and rankings from our fellow board posters, these guys were all over the place. So maybe the Wizards had Bub or a few others rated higher than the consensus, so to them, the value was too good to pass up as they search for a true game-changer. Deni, while good and probably my favorite player on the team, isn't and more than likely will never be, a game changer.
Just let the young boys play! It's truly the only hope at this point.

Re: Kyshawn George
Whoof. Looking for highlights of Kyshawn George, I picked his best scoring game (v. Wake Forest) but it turned out to be a lowlights reel of pretty much everything he does wrong on the court:
Bad decisions all around. Bad results. And a loss. The only thing he does that looks NBA worthy is hit an outside shot. Everything else in this reel is wrongheaded misguided and sloppy. I'd trust Patrick Baldwin Jr to somehow develop a better game over the player in this video. I'll see if I can find a better example.

Re: Kyshawn George
Oof. His most complete game of the season vs Georgia Tech and he looks equally inept. :/
I dunno. I like positional length and versatility etc, but sometimes you can see if a guy has it or not. Can't rule out a startling change or a late blooming growth but so far I see more questions than hope in the vids.

I'd rather stuck at 26 and taken Johnny Furphy if we needed a tall shooter. Or really any of the other picks taken in the late 1st round.

Re: Kyshawn George
Yeah, hopefully a NBA strength and conditioning program can transform his athletic ability, otherwise, he’s simply not a NBA caliber athlete. Struggled to produce as a 20.5 year old college freshman.
Compared him to Cam Johnson, but that’s a top end outcome, an extremely unique/outlier developmental example.

I was watching this vid on him
He really just seems super unathletic and slow, but he can shoot from the logo. Not high on him

I feel like the pick, if we were looking for a long shooting forward, was Dadiet. Hopefully he looks better in SL.

Re: Kyshawn George
The fact that he's swiss doesn't help either. Bub for example has the swag of a young balla from bodymore murdaland, George has the swag of a kid who grew up drinking hot chocolate after skiing down the bunny slopes

We traded Gafford for this kid, so a lot is riding on this swing.

Traded Gafford and #51, picked him over Pacome Dadiet.
