Which team is the biggest winner of Draft + Free Agency ?

Post#1 » by Clav » Wed Jul 3, 2024 1:21 am

Lots of movement around the league... Who are your winners from the draft and start of Free Agency ??

Some teams have made a splash (like Klay to DAL) and PG13 spurning the Clippers to link up with Embiid. Our week continues with finding out who-or-if wins the Lauri sweepstakes, and where a couple other vets end up, like Derozan sign. LBJ also, hasn't re-signed so he's obviously a large storyline at play. So, which team has been the most successful in its offseason moves ?

Its early and more can go wrong, but i like my Bulls off season so far. If you had told me 2 weeks ago that we can parlay Caruso and #11 into Josh Giddey & Matas, i would say to stop playing with me! Also really like the Jalen Smith signing.

Big winner atleast from draft is Minnesota IMO Losing slo-mo and not getting anybody back might sting a little though

OKC doing a great job at filling needs

I think it has to be OKC

Topic, Caruso and Hartenstein. That's a viciously efficient offseason.

This is my top 5 too, top of my head. Other teams did well, but these all got better, or in Celtics case kept the main core together and stay the same with a solid draft.

I think Hartenstein is a big loss for the Knicks.

True, but they got Bridges, resigned Anunoby, and had a really good draft, imo. If Mitch stays healthy,m they can still shore up that C spot and not lose too much. Hartenstein was great for them tho, no denying.

I like what GSW is doing, though it's probably not exciting for others to watch the team get under the lux tax and get in the first of two "non-repeater" years. It's needed though. Klay out and Melton in is actually a much bigger improvement than most realize.

Not sure if you can call it the biggest winner, but the Clippers did pretty well all things considered.

1. They lost PG for nothing but improved on health immediately and will no longer be bound by PG's all ISO all the time playstyle.
2. They signed Kevin Porter Jr, Derrick Jones Jr, Kris Dunn, Nick Batum and Mo Bamba - all for pennies on the dollar.
3. They are completely out of the Apron hell and are even under the luxury tax, improving their options next year.
4. The guys they signed were on 1+1 deals, opening up the chance to spend some of that new $50M cap money on a star next year.
5. They still have assets to trade such as Mann, Russ and Powell in order to improve further - looks like Miles Bridges is an option.

After taking one of the most brutal gut punches in recent NBA history, the Clippers are still competitive, maybe more so.

Great top 5, this is mine as well.

Would sneak Orlando in there as a competitive 6th also

Definitely! The Magic are primed for a huge season. I think they might replace the Pacers as my #2 league pass team.

OKC for sure.

I'm happy my team was able to re-sign Paskal and Obi. Good off season.

Paskal was almost a certaining, I don't think we'd have traded for him if not 99% sure he would re-sign. He fits in prefect with this team, style of play is better suited for him than with the Raps.

Obi was up in the air, some team could have offered him a bag we couldn't afford. He had a good season. His strengths fit the team perfect.

Not having a 1st round pick, Furphy was a good pick up in the 2nd. Projected top 20 pick before the draft. Developmental player, can play in the G-League. Could become a player.
