NOP-CLE-DET: Garland to Pistons?
Pelicans trade Ingram for Isaiah Stewart, 21M TPE, some draft asset (pick swap in 2028? lottery protected pick in 2029?)
Get their 2-way starting center and a nice TPE to work with later on.
Cavs trade Garland for Ingram
Been discussed to death here and elsewhere.
Pistons trade Beef Stu, draft asset for Garland
Get a young PG to pair with Cade, Garland offers enough volume shooting to possibly accomodate for both Holland and Duren in the starting lineup (or Langdon could opt for packaging Ausar & Ivey with THJ's expiring contract, for a starting caliber SF)

Nah I can't see that as the return for Ingram. Pels want to contend, not father future assets. Sadly I see Ayton as the likely return for Ingram as well as another role player. But is just a hunch, and while Stewart is serviceable he is too limited to be essentially and one-for-one piece here and now.

Wouldn’t Jarrett Allen be the target? Maybe some deal around Allen and Garland for BI and CJ? If you don’t like Allen because he doesn’t shoot the 3 you could ask for Mobley instead or try to get a 3rd team involved.
One other note, Murray probably is better with the ball in his hands and so is Garland, so a 3rd team to take Garland and or Allen and provide replacement players to NOP might be needed.

You could certainly ASK for Mobley in exchange for Ingram. But don't get offended when you get laughed off the phone...

Pistons would cut Cleveland out and take Ingram for themselves.

Let's not talk about CLE/NO deals that do not include Jones, Murphy, or a guarantee that Ingram will take less than the vet. max on an extension.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

As a big who can shoot, Stewart is an interesting target. I would love him as the Cavs' third big. But he does not hold this kind of value.

Exactly. Ingram is a more enticing target for us than Garland. But we probably don't have the assets for either.

Stew has this kind of value? Garland is 24, made an all-star team, and is locked up for four years. If I get some assurance he won't ask out, I do this in a heartbeat.
Caveat - why did his advanced stats take a dip last season?

Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Broke his jaw midseason, lost 12lbs, missed the softest part of schedule, came back for the hardest, and as soon as he came back, Mitchell, Strus, Wade, and Mobley all got hurt. It was basically Garland, Allen, and reserves against against playoff teams for a 40 day stretch.
The Cavs aren't going to sell low on him.

Allen and Garland for Ingram and CJ is not appealing to me as a Cavs fan. I am interested in an Allen/Niang for Ingram type of deal.

Agreed.
I would still like to see the Mobleys/Wade moved for Murphy/Jones. Let NOP keep Ingram.
NOP Murray/McCollum/Williamson/Ingram/Mobley makes a good young team lead by an experienced defensive PG.
Cavs turn into Garland/Mitchell/Murphy/Jones/Allen, a better shooting team with strong defense on the interior.

So the question is - what is Ingram worth to a team trying to get relevant (Detroit)?
Three team deal and it has to cost Detroit something to get Ingram:
Cleveland trades Mobley (E and I)/Niang
Cleveland receives Murphy/Jones
Cleveland decides Mobley is who he is - a great defender/rebounder but limited offensively. Instead of waiting, they go for 2 shooters who spread the floor with Allen anchoring, allowing garland and Mitchell to drive.
NOP trades Murphy/Jones/Ingram
NOP receives Mobley (E and I)/Niang/Stewart/Sasser/Thompson
NOP goes for a remake of sorts. If NOP sees Mobley as PF, Williamson moves over to SF. If they see him as a center, Thompson steps in as the SF, Williamson stays at PF. Stewart can back up either big spot.
Detroit trades Thompson/Sasser/Stewart
Detroit receives Ingram
Detroit gets a scoring complimentary player to Cunningham. Along with Harris and Holland (replacing Thompson) Detroit gets a young team with scorers.
NOP fans will not like giving up Jones/Murphy but the return is Mobley, a cost-controlled Stewart, and a chance for Thompson to emerge.
Detroit fans will not like giving up Thompson, but at his best he is still less than what Ingram can provide. Personally, I am not high on Thompson and his sub-20% shooting. Trying to wait for him to be a player in Detroit is going to be a long process. Potential loses to reality every time.
Cleveland fans will be against moving Mobley, but the return for him is too good to pass up. Jones is a sound defender who averages 37% from 3. Murphy averages 39%.

Murphy for Mobley is an interesting swap. Tough decision for either team. I wouldn't be apposed to the idea. If you're asking for both Murphy & Herb, it stops making sense on player & financial front for NO's as Herb is the best 3D player any team can get for 12m/3y. Which would be needed to offset the contracts. Substitute Herb with pick value.
Mobley - Zion - BI - Herb - Murray.

Not at all interesting for Cleveland. If the Cavs put Mobley on the block, they could get much more than Murphy. NO would need to give up so much in draft capital to get Cleveland to move off of Mobley that it probably wouldn’t make sense.

Re: NOP-CLE-DET: Garland to Pistons?
It's not about like. Realistically, we're not likely going to trade Thompson and we're not going to go overboard to speed up the process to get relevant now. Not when we're entering a draft almost as appealing as the Wemby one (and with a bit more depth up at the top).

More than doable. NO's still own multiple picks beside their own & can trade BI for several more.
Let me here you, what would it take Murphy & what kind of pick package ?.

Re: NOP-CLE-DET: Garland to Pistons?
While I understand the strategic advantages behind using Mobley's cap hold to gain access to to the MLE next summer, I would personally appreciate the Cavs extending him now so I won't have to read trade proposals over the next year for a player that isn't going anywhere.

Mobley - Zion - BI - Herb - Murray.
Murphy alone or Jones alone do not equate to Mobley.
It has to be both. Cleveland could kick in a player such as Strus/LeVert/Wade and maybe some second rounders.
Mobley on the open market is returning a star and picks.
