Who?

The Sixers podcasters gave him that name, but not well known.

That said, it’s been a tough off-season for me since everyone now is referred to by initials. KPJ, DJJ, AJJ, etc.

No, it’s CP3 and KD. That’s it. You’ve got to be a five time all star before you get initials.

Green is perfectly suited for a bench 3-point sniper role, the same Beasley was. They need to upgrade that spot. If they cannot, I would expect them to try a more athletic player at that spot and live with the weaknesses to improve the team defense.

I don't see Green starting.

Foot speed and quickness help on defense, but aren't essential. Kris Dunn isn't the quickest player, nor is Alex Caruso. There are a ton more examples. Toughness, smarts, anticipation are more important.

Hence why Khris still rates out as an above average defender. He's rarely out of place and has a knack for staying in front of his opponent, contesting shots and using his length to be disruptive.

Nobody. Even if we try trading Brook or Bobby for a quality sg I don't see teams given one up for them.

I could see use trading for any of the following players depending on what we are willing to send out.

Marcus Smart
Matisse Thybulle
Ayo Dosunmo
Kevin Huerter
Moses Moody
Bruce Brown
John Konchar

Now the free agent market is pretty barren. Justin Holiday, Lonnie Walker IV and Alec Burks are the only players I'd consider starting ahead of AJJ or Green.

Yeah, I'm not sure where the Trent Jr being a bad defender got tossed around. His issues are mostly gambling too much on defense, but he's competent at the very least. Beasley was a literal traffic cone at times staring at the live action and not moving.

When you're the 5th option playing next to our big 3 the only thing you need to do is not hesitate to shot when you're wide open and crash the glass hard for rebounds when other's shoot. This is all PJ did during our championship run. Occasionally make opponents pay for leaving you wide open and get offensive rebounds to extend possessions.

Bucks in - Keldon Johnson and Charles Bassey

Spurs in - Brook Lopez and Pat Connaughton

Saves us 10.9m.

Still doesn’t solve the inevitable problem we have at the starting SG spot but perhaps we can go after Caleb Martin now instead of vet min guy?

Dame/Martin/Khris/Giannis/Bassey
Delon/AjG/AjJr/Keldon/Bobby
Beauchamp/vet min

AjJo/Smith/Livingston

Keldon would be the starter for sure

Keldon didn't even start for the Spurs last year.

Keldon sucks, sorry :/

I would be OK with Saric. Totally based on his performance yesterday :D

Based on crafted DPM. Trent was down on that bad Raptors team whereas Beasley had decent plus-minus in certain lineups, benefiting from starters, but he didn't match the eye test. He got pulled during the playoffs for a reason. But that doesn't really matter in this instance, I care more about how Trent matches up with Beasley defensively. Trent is an upgrade.

I'd say do what you need to do to get a long, mobile, active big. Sign Wenyen to a camp deal now so you have a fall back.

I agree with this. Id only add another guard of he's a true 2 way combo guard. No more minimum guys.

Addressing the front court with mobile centers and big wing defender is now our biggest need.

Trent only seems to be an upgrade because he wasn't in the role he'd be in here, the PoA defender. Trent is bad at that, just like Beasley.

Either way, find a way to fold Bball Paul into another trade for a 2nd. He'd form a high energy bench with AJJ, AJG, and AJJ2.

Love that, didn’t even realize it. Bobby and Pat C for Kuzma works, that could shake things up.

Kuzma makes more than them combined, so even if we could aggregate salaries, it does not work. Brook and Pat for Kuzma works but is missing 1 or 2 first round picks.

Trent has at least shown an ability to contribute in that role in the past. Whether he can reclaim that is another story. Probably why he might end up being a min guy this year.

Warriors seem to be prepping for a consolidation trade.

From the trade board:

They currently have 5 6-5 or under guards who want minutes - Curry, Melton, Hield, Podjemski, Moody. They also have 4 combo forwards - Kuminga, Green, Wiggins, Anderson and 2 centers in TJD/Looney.

Golden State definitely could use another big man.

Yeah, I’d think moody is clearly available. Podz was ahead of him in the rotation, and now they’ve signed Melton and hield. Moody has the size to play the 3, but Wiggins and maybe even kuminga can also play that spot. Something has to give.

Would assume if teams thought Trent Jr was much of a defender he’d be more coveted?

Moody doesn't really add anything here. We have guys that can do what he does. Now if they made Pods available, I'd pay a serious price

You could say that for a number of remaining FA's left. Market is suppressed with 2nd apron teams. No reason to break the bank for a guy who might need to take a prove it deal this year. Think he'd be best suited on a contending team as a reclamation project. I'm not even the biggest Trent fan so even sticking up for him feels like a chore at this point, but I do think he's a guy you hope can return more to form defensively and you hit on a cheap rotation piece for a year.

Kinda seems like the 2nd apron has killed the earning potential of guys like Trent jr and Delon Wright who could otherwise grab something between the minimum and the full tpmle and are now stuck taking minimums

Hell, Beasley might be looking at another minimum too
