hey thanks man. i sincerely appreciate that. honestly, i just want to talk ball with nba fans. i used to be active on nba twitter but that place got way too toxic, and that was before the overall mess that the platform has become. i have no issue throwing jabs back and forth with fans of other teams. i actually enjoy it quite a lot... but its gotta come from a place of it all being in good fun.

Lmao this place has recently become toxic a bit especially for Laker or LeBron fans.

They don't throw jabs, more like Mike Tyson uppercuts lol

yeah, not sure how much longer I'm gonna be posting here. its just not that much fun to be routinely told to shut up because of the team i root for.

sure, i get that mentality. but for me, i just feel like what's the point of trying to participate in discourse when at best a loud minority and at worst a majority actively dont want your participation. If people dont wanna talk to me, I'm not gonna try and force my way into the conversation.

Totally understandable!

But my personal view is that I don't give a F about them
It would be nice to actually have a decent conversation with them.... Oh well

I encourage you guys to post on the Lakers’ team forum.

The reason posters get tired of Lakers/leBron sFans is because they post every thought they have on GB.

i dont want to get into an argument, but i have to say i find it pretty funny that people dont complain much the millionth time someone posts some thread arguing about whether Jordan or LeBron is the GOAT... but a Laker fan wants to talk FA and its "back to the Laker Forum with you foul beast!" lol. whatever. its all good. im not here to tell people how to engage. people are free to like or dislike whoever or whatever they want.

I can quite imagine that would be really unpleasant and infuriating.

This topic definitely does belong on the general board, as is any other thread discussing other teams potential moves..
It's not very hard for Lakers/Lebron haters (of which I am one) simply choosing to avoid reading it.

This whole skit of every GB Lakers thread belongs on the Lakers board is becoming trolling and puts down most of the good/decent Lakers fans on this forum (yes they do exist !)

They currently right now seem to have struck out in the Free Agency market, and I think it's definitely an interesting point of discussion and conjecture amongst all NBA fans to see what trades/moves Rob Pelinka can pull off to try get them back into some sort of contention. Seems like slim pickings right now aside from DeRozan (suspect Trae Young is likely to stay at Atlanta for the time being)

Let's get back to topic, please. I haven't seen too many threads moved from GB to a team page, but either way please be on topic and if you meant to be on the GB... abandon this thread

DeMar for Dlo feels possible but I think a trade with Nets for CamJ is the big fish.

Does' Rui's contract match up with CamJo's?

I just looked. The Lakers are at the 2nd apron now and cannot trade Rui for CamJo. CamJo makes about $20 per and Rui $17. The Lakers can only take back $18.7. Hmmmm.... This makes it tough to upgrade to CamJo.

There really aren't any good moves out there to make at this point.

D'Lo + Rui for Jerami Grant could work. Bad money but Grant isn't a defensive liability and he can shoot 3s.

the deal to make:

reaves, dangelo, rui and two unprotected first... for Lauri, Sexton, Kessler and three second round picks

we get a huge TPE... trade that and a second round pick for miles bridges

trade cam, wood, and a second round pick for hield

trade Gabe and a second round pick for Caleb Martin

Nothing wrong with your trades here on the surface, but I don't think it's as simple as think.

For one, the Lakers can only trade one player at a time and receive less money coming back until they shed two million dollars. That means they either ask Papa James to shave 2m off his next year's salary or they trade one of her their minimum guys with a pick attached. This is the reality.

Two, after they shed the requisite 2m, they can now aggregate (combine) players in trades, but they still CANNOT combine minimum guys in a trade. Only one minimum guys per trade.

Next, the Lakers are now barred from sign and trades unless they get back under 179m in payroll. A very tall task without attaching a first round pick to a team with space.

So many of your deals simply cannot happen.

The sign and trade for Caleb Martin, nope. The sign and trade for Shield, dead in the water too.

The Utah deal works, but the TPE generated from this trade is under 10m. That won't be nearly enough to sign Miles Bridges.

As far as the bones of the Utah deal, it definitely works. Would Utah bite? Unless they get a bigger offer, yes.

Should the Lakers mortgage two more unprotected picks to Utah for Markennan? I don't know.

How does he fit with James and Davis? As a PF who does he guard? Who does James guard?

I really question the fit, and giving up two more unprotected picks to Ainge (he already has one in the Westbrook trade), doesn't sit right at all.

The main problem is that this team have DLo, Rui, Vando and Reddish, 4 players who only play 1 side of the floor and therefore a huge hole glaring in the playoffs. I’ll trade 3 if not all these guys for Cam Johnson and DFS, both can defend and shoot 3’s.
Hopefully they also get Trent Jr who also doesn’t have a glaring weakness.

Good to see Pelinka stick with the path of improving the team but not at the expense of the future.

Pass on KT, DeMar and all the oldies.

I would trade a FRP for CamJo or Grant but also understand Pelinka wanting to save FRPs for after LeBron to get a second star next to AD.

Don’t let the pundits confuse you about Pelinka and the team.

Yeah, I’m now done with the idea of more oldies, too. And definitely no more one-way players.
Since the 1976 merger LAL 11, CHI 6, BOS 6, SAS 5, GSW 4

PG: Luka / Vincent / Bronny
SG: Smart / Reaves / Knecht / Mañon
SF: LaRavia / Rui / Thiero
PF: Bron / Vando / Kleber

Unless we want to rotate bad and good cycles, it’s all about player dev and gettin two top stars.

We added Knecht, Bronny and Hinson then resigned Max. All 4 could be good role players withKnecht potentially being an athletic star.

As for adding a 3&D wing, think soon teams will have no wiggle room and cheaper values could be had with Kuz, CamJo, DFS, and JGrant.

Lot of options including standing pat with Vando/Knecht/Max.

We went to 2023 WCF then had a good 2024 season that ended short with so many injuries. We should be better this year with our roster and might tweak at trade deadline so let’s not panic.

Nets snagged 5 FRP's for a player who was never an allStar in his career, why? Because that player primarily can defend and hit 3's.
Boston won it all for having 4 players who can hit 3's and defend. Dallas had 2 great closers but one of the biggest reasons why they went to the Finals was their best defenders PJ Washington and DJJ were able to hit 3's against OKC AND TWolves.
Boston and TWolves were both top 3 in DRTG and both went deep in the playoffs.
Lakers ranked 16 in DRTG, Vando and Reddish can play D but no 3 and are huge liabilities on offense.

NY went for the kill, getting the Nova boys together, which to them was worth the max as they see this period as their best solution.

They also have the depth to compete with Boston and 76ers. It’s their best shot at a ring in forever!

Lakers, not in the same spot.

if we are out of the race for Lauri...

Charlotte needs to be considered ASAP, they can use a serviceable PG:
Gabe Vincent, woods and a FRP for Nick Richards and miles (s&t....4 years/38 mil) ... if they value DLO, I'd add him for bertans

Return to Los Angeles Lakers
