Almost every contending team is floating between the two aprons and I think we are destined to cross the first one anyway.
Am I wrong?
The worry is not being allowed to cross the 1st apron. By making any trade (while over the cap) that returns more salary to the Sixers than they send out, they become hard-capped at the first apron. The math of that is very hard to make work with someone as expensive as DFS (for example).

I don’t think anyone’s worried about going above the first apron. The concern is being hard capped at the first apron meaning you can’t go over it. We need to find ways to match salary in trades so we won’t get hard capped by the new CBA.

Bodner and Neubek say no... But I don't care! Hell, put him on a center if a team has another non-shooter on the floor so Embiid can roam.
Niang was a solid piece here and he can't guard any position...

Tony Bradley back? I'm sorry for every doubting you Daryl.

Pompey says Sixers interested in DFS and Haywood Highsmith. I'd much rather have Trent Jr than Highsmith.

Did Shams jump the gun a lot or is this taking a long time to figure out a trade for a 2nd round pick? OR is Morey wheeling and dealing to make the S&T into a bigger deal?

Yeah not interested in Highsmith. DFS is ok but how about trading for Portis? Would prefer Portis if he is available.

Pompey is wrong too much for me to believe anything he says. He’ll write up anything someone tells him. But idk how I feel about Highsmith. We literally treated him like Josh Hart/ Ben Simmons during that play in game. Had embiid on him and sit paint. He made us pay by going 0/4. Now we interested?

I read Hield is finding the right deal moneywise with the Warriors. This is the sticky point

Looking at DFS and Highsmith, I really don't see much difference. At least Highsmith at 27 could claim he's about to hit his prime, while DFS at 31 is on the backside.
Give me Highsmith on vet min and age over DFS age and contract.

I imagine it's more about getting all the details finalized considering it's part of a pretty gigantic trade. Plus there's just a lot of order of operations stuff that needs to get situated. From a paperwork side, that deal would need to be done before officially signing Maxey/George, and then they'd need to renounce the T.E. that's created. Dallas, Golden State, Minnesota and Charlotte all have to have their ducks in a row too.

They both provide some of the same characteristics and while DFS has a longer history/volume of shooting 3s, I thought BBall Paul shot a decent percentage on his looks last year
Yeah, I was making this point about DFS's volume on page 22 of this thread. Plus, his 3P% is a bit below the league average and yet his rate of jacking them is way above the league average.

In fairness to Pompey he said for months people in the NBA believe the Sixers are the favorites for PG and he never wavered off of that.

Fair, but if you look at DFS's statistical history, he peaked at ages 26-28. After age 28; his 3pt% has declined significantly from 39% to between 34-35%. Last year, he only averaged 1 attempt more than Highsmith per 36 mins.
