His routine is stupid, and just makes him think about a shot that should just be like breathing or riding a bike. If he takes the shot that quickly in practice he should just do it the exact same way in the game.

Hard to say for sure but he’s seemingly only doing it in practice because the rule is you have to shoot it quicker in these FIBA games.

I don’t think we really have any proof that he shoots better when he does it quickly and don’t really think that’s the issue personally. The issue is his actual shooting mechanics are a mess. The amount of time he takes before he shoots it poorly doesn’t really matter IMO.

I agree with this. I doubt we would see an increase in FT% late in the fourth when he is exhausted and pulling at his shorts and jacking up FTs under 5 seconds. Not saying the routine now helps, but at least he is catching his breath for the next series. Also think it is somewhat overblown. Best case scenario is he become a league average FT and the difference between his career average and that is like 0.5 points a game. I dont think his routine is the difference though between where is now and league-average, but more that his mechanics suck as you say.

Wish his shoes weren't so fugly for a white, unathletic male in his upper 30s. Like I could totally pull these off when I was a 6'11", 250 pound, 6-percent body fat man with international flavor and a $1 billion net worth but I'm past that stage in my life.

Anyways, seems like a good deal if you like them.

Yep. Even with his relatively poor free throw shooting, it’s still efficient offense when he goes to the line. Obviously the games where he shoots like 40% from the line and we lose by a couple points hurts bad but overall his FT shooting remains a big help. I’d obviously love for him to get more efficient at the line but I think that requires much more than shooting it quickly.

His mechanics suck because of his really slow routine and process. The transfer of energy from his legs to core to arms is clunky. Totally get that he's going for a breather while he's there.

There's no reason that taking deep breaths/taking his time at the line would also require his actual shooting mechanics to be clunky. That's why his mechanics still look like crap when he's shooting it quickly in that video.

That pause/hitch after he brings the ball up is why all his bad misses are short. Once the ball starts moving up, it should not stop.

Greece will qualify, I wish they wouldn't. Sorry Greek people. I'd feel the same way if he was on the US team.

Bracket seems exceedingly bad with Slovenia having nothing outside of Luka and Croatia being mediocre even by their standards, so we are very likely to qualify. We can't shoot a lick though against decent opponents, so a surprise is not unlikely at all

I'm American and I'd be 100x more annoyed if he was playing for the US than for Greece lol, totally different scenarios

he finishes with 32/1/2 on 11/11 shooting (9/13 from the line) in 16 minutes

not bad
