Ben Simmons is an expiring contract.

To trade him for Beal would be giving the Suns a get out of jail free card.

The Nets are going big game hunting in the 2026 free agency offseason and do not need Beal's contract on their cap.

Exactly! The fact that James Jones hasn’t even offered this is ridiculous. At the worst the Lakers say no and either Beal works harder or gets offended and wants out.

The Lakers active contracts are at $188.3M. Over the first Apron. They'll go over the 2nd apron once Bronny James is signed.

I don't think the Lakers can aggregate contracts unless LeBron takes a huge haircut on his extension, so I think the ship has sailed on Beal to the Lakers.

Not that I think it’s realistic but..

I think with LBJ not taking a discount it would have to be like..

Phoenix does Beal for Vincent, Vandy, DLo

LAL dumps Rui on a third team (probably Detroit? Or Utah? SAS still can create cap space..)

Then a second unrelated trade of..

Phoenix trades Roddy, Dunn, and 2nds to LAL into newly created TPE? Technically Dunn doesn’t even count as salary currently

That order keeps LAL under the second apron,

As long as they are under the second apron post-trade (including empty roster holds), they should be able to make the deal.

The bigger issue is that a third team would have to be involved because neither Phoenix nor LA can take on salary in a trade (or they would be hard-capped at the first apron).

Taking all the rules together, it's basically impossible for two apron teams to make any trade with each other directly.

looks like lebron took less than the absolute max, keeping LA below the second apron...allowing to aggregate salaries and opening the mLe

Probably, but the Suns don't have any to give and the Lakers don't have a lot of viable moves, fewer still if they're not adding future firsts (which they shouldn't be). He's a better defender than LaVine.

I'd rather have LaVine than Beal. Let that sink in for a second.

That’s wildly over the top. Beal can still play. Suns trying to win a chip next season. Whether or not you think that’s possible, Beal helps them significantly more than Simmons.

I mean, does winning basketball games even matter anymore?

I mean both guys are really good basketball players. Problem is that they are over paid. If money is the issue, yeah Lavine makes less. If you like Lavines play better on the court, that works too but I hardly think that’s a shot against Beal. Lavine is really good.

Value the highest max contract but not a top 100 defender, Beal was paid to sell tickets in DC with Kuzma and Rui

Beal’ contract not based on an actual valued

Beal is not gonna waive his trade kicker. Like how do you think that works? “Hey beal you a contractual obligated to millions of dollars but do you mind just giving that up”
