There’s still time, and presumably still some interested parties - nop, Lal, SAS, hou, mem, maybe orl

Okc being out is probably the biggest hit though.

I also would not be surprised if something that is possible turns out to happen.

yeah horst has really f'd up by not taking one of those awesome obvious trades out there!

Maybe his problem is that there are just too many of them and he can't decide!

Who said Horst F'd up or had a boat load of offers waiting in his inbox? I've consistently said the opposite would happen.

What's "sad" is aspiring to sign Gary Trent to start at SG for a team with championship hopes.

the last time our top 3 guys were halfway healthy we won a title without even having our starting SG available

and Trent is probably better than 2020-21 DDV anyway

Honestly, I'm not interested in debating whether or not this team has legitimate championship hopes as is. We've done it.

Anyways, seems like Gary Trent had a bit of defensive resurgence last season. He'd be the best option we've discussed outside of trades.

I’m more stating the obvious as a counter to the general negativity of the off-season thus far. There are still presumably some dominoes left to fall, and those types of deals often involve multiple teams.

The Pistons' The Athletic writer put out an article about a few trades he thinks would make sense for Detroit as well as the other team and he included this one with us: Brook and 2031 1st round pick for Jalen Duren.

The other two trades he proposed were with the Knicks and Lakers.

Lakers: Gabe Vincent and a 1st round pick for a 2nd round pick

Knicks: Mitch Robinson, Miles McBride, Detroit's 2025 1st round pick, and two 2nd round picks for Jalen Duren and Jaden Ivey.

I’d do Brook/2031 1st for Duren in about .00000001 seconds.

Why in the hell would Pistons value Duren that little? He is a cornerstone level prospect in my eyes. He averaged per36 17/15 as a 20 year old, only foul trouble was stopping him. Still was able to see the floor for 30 minutes a game

The writer basically said their GM wants to take on salary for draft picks and isn't the guy that drafted Duren or Ivey. And also that Brook just fits well as an elite rim protector/floor spacer.

Bucks will be at 189,070 mil after they sign their rookies with 13 contracts, which is just 139K above the 2nd apron. The problem is that this number will be at 4,314 mil if/when Horst picks up a couple of vets to finish the roster.

I can’t see how Pat can survive from this situation. He is the most likely IMO of all 13 to not make it to the camp.

I'd roll the dice on Ivey in the right deal. I wouldn't be surprised if Detroit is involved whenever Ingram gets dealt to Houston. Lopez to NOP, Houston sends a couple 1sts to NOP, a 1st and crappy players to Detroit, we get Ivey or Beef Stew, or throw in more and get both.

Do you mean he will retire before camp?

I trust Green as a shooter but unless I’m misremembering the vast majority of his flashes came in garbage time so it’s a bit hard for me to assess. I certainly don’t think he’s anywhere close to be a starting SG on a championship contender.

Probably a bit of "he played more in those games because he was playing well" going on here, but in the 6 games AJ played over 20 minutes this year, he had a TS% of 81.7% and was at a little under 19 points per 36 minutes. In the 31 games he played more than 10 minutes, he had a TS% of 62.0% at 14.4 points per 36 minutes.

FWIW, 13 of those 31 games were decided by more than 15 points. In the 18 games that were relatively close (AKA less likely to be garbage time, though it can still happen), he was at 63.0% and 12.8 points/36.

I think regardless of situation, he's a damn good shooter both in terms of % and volume (he's taking 8-10 3's/36 minutes in all of those samples). The question is if he can hold up enough defensively. Again, I don't think starting him is ideal, but I tend to think he's not a total lost cause on defense.

They wouldn't. We're just grabbing onto anything at this point.

Easy yes from us, maybe they are dumb and can be convinced to include Ivey for another vet

Oh, I think he definitely has a role on this team, not denying that. But I think his role is more of a 15-20 minute guy when you need some scoring versus trying to push him 27 minutes per game like we did Grayson.

I have a lot of interest in Duren. A little concerned about getting too young but getting a 10 year starter with all-NBA upside mitigates that concern.

So Paul Reed getting bought out, do we see him as a possible vet min center?

I'm interested, he just turned 25 and was decent when he saw the floor last year. Seems to give us what we need as a large but mobile defender

Obviously, not a big deal, but the Doc/Paul relationship seems... shaky at best.

https://www.libertyballers.com/2022/4/11/23019791/doc-rivers-paul-reed-deandre-jordan-joel-embiid-james-harden-daryl-morey-sixers
Doc Rivers wrote:Paul was phenomenal.... Reed did a nice job, obviously rebounding, running the floor, pushing the ball made some good passes today, too. So that was good for us.

A reporter followed up, on that theme, dialing up the million dollar question. "With the way that Reed has played the last couple games do you see yourself maybe leaning-"

Doc cut him off.
Doc Rivers wrote:Not gonna go on the Paul Reed victory tour. So don’t start. We’re trying to win a world championship, man.

Maybe get our summer league boy Rayjon Tucker to take over Patty C spot on the cheap.

He is living above the rim overseas.
