They are also the last team anyone else should be emulating. They are screwed for the foreseeable future. Winning 49 meaningless games with no hope of being a serious contender, no draft picks, and no way out is not something to aspire to. I get that as a Warriors fan, you'd like to have two of your division rivals be screwed to that extent instead of just one, but thankfully Ballmer and Frank aren't as dumb as Ishbia and Isiah.

Ballmer's nightmare

"That new $15 billion building they built in Playa Vista is about to be a ghost town" – Shannon Sharpe goes off on the Clippers' losing PG for nothing

The Los Angeles Clippers had high hopes of inaugurating their state-of-the-art arena, the Intuit Dome, with a resounding success. It was a long-awaited moment for a franchise that had always played second fiddle to the more illustrious L.A. Lakers. However, this dream turned into a nightmare when a key member of their "Big 3," Paul George, chose to opt out of his contract, become a free agent, and sign a max deal with the Philadelphia 76ers.

According to sports analyst Shannon Sharpe, this development was a death blow to the franchise, especially with the king's ransom they had to pay to acquire PG-13 from the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2019.

I wonder what Shannon will say when we get another star via FA thanks to flexibility this summer have been creating. Luka or Trae in 2026? Ja Morant in 2027? Cade maybe?

Exactly- they had to maintain flexibility. It is so restrictive if you cross into the 2nd apron.

Also, it’s not like the clippers let a top 5 player go- pg is top 20 at best.

Yes, the pg trade was a mistake, but hindsight is 20/20. The sunken cost fallacy applies- don’t compound a mistake by making another one (investing 4 years in a declining player restricting the front office moves for years)

Also, the intuit dome is in Inglewood not playa vista. They must be confusing it with the practice facility which I think they are moving out of because a new one has also been built by the intuit dome in Inglewood. Lastly, it cost $2 billion, not $15 billion

Is he for real?

Two HoF players leave the team but we'll have Bruno Mars?

What do Bruno's advanced stats look like.

If the team struggles to win, will the basketball fans care who's the half time entertainment?

OTOH, first year in a new arena, probably a lot of tickets were already sold, including a lot of season tickets and PSLs.

The 49ers famously sold a ton of season tickets, at very jacked-up prices compared to the prices at Candlestick and very expensive PSLs for Levi's stadium on the basis of having one of the top teams in the NFC for a couple of years.

Then the owner was jealous of Harbaugh getting all the publicity for the team's on-field success and decided to force him out of the job, keeping an alcoholic GM instead.

So they opened the new stadium with a horrible team and a lot of season ticket holders were stuck with huge outlays for expensive season tickets and PSLs.

Made the mistake of listening to 710 radio in the afternoon while driving around yesterday.

I think it was Mason & Ireland saying one incorrect thing after another- that Kawhi never plays (he played over 3/4 of the games last season), the Clippers take the regular season more seriously than the Lakers, and that the Clippers had a better record in each season for 10 seasons in a row as compared with the Lakers. Their inaccuracies were in the context of criticizing Ballmer for his optimism about next season.

These radio guys have one of the easiest jobs on earth- most of the time they don't even talk about sports- they just rant about TV shows, performers, situations in their personal lives and when they do talk about sports they don't even know what they are talking about. Must be nice

It's a shame the faces of the franchise aren't still actually on the team.

Has the team announced how many season tickets they've sold for the first year of the Intuit Dome?

You get some stories about how long-time season ticket holders are priced out when teams move to new, modern expensive stadiums. Not to mention PSLs that season ticket holders are forced to pay for.

Looks like the owner has lined up naming rights and sponsorship deals, as well as a lot of non-basketball events revenues that he won't have to share with the league.

But financial resources was never an issue with the team under Ballmer. However, team should generate a ton of revenues instead of being a potential money pit.

Larry Ellison, another tech billionaire, is setting up his children in show business, including buying Paramount and CBS for his son.

They should have done a few soft openings with hundreds to at most a few thousand attendees. Things never go right when you are trying to implement so much technology at once.

ADD: Our government is a joke, let's face it. Ballmer is a big political contributor.

AB 3206, introduced by Assemblymember Tina McKinnor, authorizes “alcoholic beverage sales to occur between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. upon the on-sale licensed premises operated in a fully enclosed arena with a seating capacity of at least 18,000 seats located in the City of Inglewood.” Those sales must “occur in a private area in the arena no larger than 2,500 square feet in the hours immediately following a day on which a sporting event, concert, or other major event, or a private event not open to the public, has occurred in the arena.”

Conveniently, the Intuit Dome seats 18,000.
