They wouldn't. We're just grabbing onto anything at this point.

I wouldn’t have considered it if not for the fact that it was a Pistons writer proposing it.

I saw Reetz on twitter saying "nah" to the article and had to open it up to see what he was rejecting out of hand. I was shocked.

When you play nba2k24 and put Brook on the trade block, the Pistons offer Duren. It wouldn't shock me if the writer was using nba2k for trade ideas and just didnt know that was very Buck favorable.

Probably a bit of "he played more in those games because he was playing well" going on here, but in the 6 games AJ played over 20 minutes this year, he had a TS% of 81.7% and was at a little under 19 points per 36 minutes. In the 31 games he played more than 10 minutes, he had a TS% of 62.0% at 14.4 points per 36 minutes.

FWIW, 13 of those 31 games were decided by more than 15 points. In the 18 games that were relatively close (AKA less likely to be garbage time, though it can still happen), he was at 63.0% and 12.8 points/36.

I think regardless of situation, he's a damn good shooter both in terms of % and volume (he's taking 8-10 3's/36 minutes in all of those samples). The question is if he can hold up enough defensively. Again, I don't think starting him is ideal, but I tend to think he's not a total lost cause on defense.

I still don't think fans appreciate Green's potential. Deploy him in the offense as though he were prime Klay (perhaps minus the occasional post ups), and you will see both him and the offense reach another level.

Defensively, he does the most important job of any perimeter defender - he keeps himself between his man and the basket. The short arms don't help, and he probably won't ever be an impactful off ball defender, but he looks more than adequate on that end to my eyes.

machu46 wrote:The Pistons' The Athletic writer put out an article about a few trades he thinks would make sense for Detroit as well as the other team and he included this one with us: Brook and 2031 1st round pick for Jalen Duren.

The other two trades he proposed were with the Knicks and Lakers.

Lakers: Gabe Vincent and a 1st round pick for a 2nd round pick

Knicks: Mitch Robinson, Miles McBride, Detroit's 2025 1st round pick, and two 2nd round picks for Jalen Duren and Jaden Ivey.

Ivey might be the type of gamble we should be looking to take to set us up for the post Dame yrs, while sacrificing more assuredness this upcoming season. Ivey he has core player, & defensive potential, but he's not a reality in those depts. However, he could have had a sophomore slump. And he plays for the worst franchise in the NBA. It's the one we stole Middleton from.

If Ivey wasn't the answer, we could still fall back on Wright, Green, Jackson, etc.; as the starting SG.

I agree with this. I think he’s an adequate two way player. Not great or dynamic on either end, but he ain’t going to be a huge liability either.

I think it’s fair to assume that 2031 1st has some serious value and Brook is a mega trade chip at the deadline or a 23m expiring. It’s not outlandish to think that that combination should get you a really good player in return.

They would be shopping Ivey if anything. Duren is special

We needed a forward to help rebound in Giannis in center lineups. This dude is the worst rebounding forward in the game. He has shot the 3 well though.

I feel like the idea of Prince has always been better than the real product, because he's typically run negative net ratings, & never anything particularly positive. But we're going to find out if he found the right situation for it finally.

He fits the small ball 4 role next to Giannis some in theory (then again so did Jae) & on a minimum, it's all you can expect.

That's really nice. Was always surprised we never went for him with Bud. My Minny friends say he is a top tier locker room guy and helped out their current wings a lot.

Is he a better defender than Beasley?

Alright, well done Horst. Didn’t think we’d be able to get him on a vet minimum.

That’s a nice signing. Won’t set the world on fire but the type of veteran depth a contending team needs.

So as it currently stands, we have what, one roster spot left? Obviously could make a trade to free up more space at some point but I think there was only likely 3 vet minimums to hand out pre-free agency.

Does he start on the wing opposite Khris now? Poa or was this a depth move? Feels like 1 is a better option than the other.
