GSW - WAS - Freeing GSW pick
GSW in: '30 GSW 1st returned.
GSW out: Moody.
Why? free their '29/'31 picks to be involved in a potential Markkanen deal.
WAS in : Moody
WAS out: '30 GSW 1st (top-20 protected) returned.
Why? Get a prospect for a probable late 1st.

Re: GSW - WAS - Freeing GSW pick
Seems reasonable enough but I assume we would only do it if we had a bigger deal already lined up that needed those picks

GS would do that deal.

The pick is top 20 protected. But Washington still shouldn’t do this I don’t think?
But it’s a good idea and probably fair.

Easy no for the Wizards as they already have Kispert to play the shooter role and the rest of the PT goes to George as a rookie in that shooter role. Might as well keep that potential first rounder instead of a RFA to be.

That pick is top 20 protected. I think the OP is fair for both sides.

I don't think Moody alone is worth a top 20 protected 1st, but I don't hate the general idea. Maybe some 2nds and/or Santos if Washington is interested in him? Although I would like him as part of a Lauri return.

Re: GSW - WAS - Freeing GSW pick
A top-20 protected 1st that immediately defaults to a 2nd is very low value. The only reason for GS to consider this is throwing extra picks for Lauri (and IMO Kunminga + 2 1sts is as much as I'd go anyway). Without that issue they might as well keep Moody.

Moody doesn't have this kind of value, GSW should just send 2 2nd rd picks

That's interesting to hear because I see Moody as being considerably better than Santos (right now and as a prospect).

Moody definitely is a better prospect, but we could use some forwards with size and Santos would be a small value add.

Washington is just collecting 1sts, hoping to hit the lottery. To a good team, Moody might be worth this maybe; to Washington, he's not. IF he was going to be a big deal, he'd have showed it by now.

Yeah, there is no reason for the wiz to do this. They don't want to win games. And they got Kids on the roster already that need time.

Re: GSW - WAS - Freeing GSW pick
I think we've seen enough from Moody to be comfortable that his upside is no more than a useful rotation player. The Wizards are not at the stage where they are looking for useful depth. They need stars and actual starting-caliber foundational talent. Moody isn't that. If they acquired Moody in this trade, it is unlikely they would keep him past the expiration of his rookie contract next summer.
The only way this works is if Moody is flipped somewhere else for a protected FRP, and I don't think he has enough value.

Moody of the Warriors board imagination is better than real Moody. Moody is worth 2 2nd round picks.

I wrote this post late, I meant to add the 2nd(s) and/or Santos to Moody to get Washington to relinquish the pick - I see that it seems like I am saying Santos or the 2nds instead of Moody!

Re: GSW - WAS - Freeing GSW pick
With the way our off season has gone, the pick would be more useful, so seems fine from the Warriors end I say.
