With Kolek maybe we could spare Deuce....I hate to do that, because Deuce was a stud in the playoffs, but Kessler would really fortify us at the center position.

Kolek is not a rotation piece, Deuce is. This year it's all about having a top 3 defense in the NBA.
Noone is sure when Kolek will earn Thibs' trust on that end of the floor.

Until such time McBride, who is under a super friendly contract and may be ready to take another leap, is our backup point guard.
If by some unmentionable reason Deuce has to start, Kolek moves up.
Or perhaps they can play together when (not if imo)Kolek pans out. Because I see Deuce as more of an sg, while Kolek tracks as a pg.

Why did iHart have to ruin our championship hopes?

He didn't ruin anything. He got an offer he couldn't and shouldn't have refused.

The only thing that changed is that we'll have to spend additional assets to get a replacement, probably our remaining protected FRPs, potentially pick swap and/or second rounders. We'll be good.

There are no 1st rounders to trade, we have alternate 1st rounders that are untradable.
However, for a 2-3 year seasoned young backup will be easily obtainable once the 1st rounders are signed. There will be cap casualties.

McCullers and a future 2nd can get this type of deal done. The Clippers gave up on iHart due to cap casualty, we'll get another iHart.

I think the Detroit pick holds some value.

There are rumors of expanding the Bridges deal, maybe we find a quality center in an expanded trade.

while i really wanted us to keep ihart, it is worth noting he only played very well in a contract year. he was pretty meh in his 1st season here. maybe he ends up reverting back to his old self in okc and we dodged a bullet

Is that really Kessler's face? It looks like an AI generated face...

Good luck trying to deal with Ainge. Screw that guy, they can keep Kessler until his value falls further.

Plus every player is useful in some way so the Knicks don't really want to give them up.

Re-watching my recording of game 1 vs Pacers. I have to say it's a little painful, I wince inside every time iHart makes a good play. His passing gave a lot of flow to the offense.

Keep in mind with Randle back and Mikal here, those opportunities would have dwindled anyways.

We all agree that it was Hartenstein's right to leave for more money, so goodbye and good luck. But we game him the name iHart, and it belongs to us. He cannot take that with him, so we'll have to refer to him again by his original name, Shart.

the bottom line for me is IHart did not want to be here and I dont want to hear about "more money". He already made 16 million the prior 2 years. Apparently what he experienced wasnt good enough to keep him here. For that reason I am happy that he left.

Yo guys

The last year on Hartenstein's deal with OKC is a TEAM OPTION!

What the hell. Why wouldn't he just stay with the Knicks on a fully guaranteed deal?

Something is up.

There may have been other reasons for him to leave such as continuing to play with a young contending team and possibly having an expanded role or other reasons but money was definitely not a reason for him to stay with the Knicks. The $30.5M and 29M he will make in the first 2 years with OKC is more than he would make in 3 years with the Knicks.

Even if something goes tragically wrong and he receives the vet min for a few years he will still make up most of what he would have lost if he took a 4 year fully guaranteed offer. He also could sign another deal for 25-35M per year in a few years and make a ton more money than what the Knicks could offer. There is almost no financial downside to him leaving.
