Dallas/OKC/Toronto - Chuck’s fault*

Dallas doesn’t want to trade our Maxi and no one actually values him. But I wanted to try anyways.

(This really should just be Kenrich for Maxi and Dallas aggregating with Mitchell to Dallas, paying Toronto a couple 2nds or whatever the breakdown of value is.. But that’s for the next thread.)

Toronto: Mitchell
Toronto: Dieng

Toronto trades a disappointing 4th year player for a disappointing 3rd year player that is 4 years younger. Toronto should be adding a second or something I think? But don’t assign much value to either player.

OKC: Dieng, Jaylin, and 2 2nds
OKC: Maxi and Dallas 2025 first top 6 protected

Presti gets another first and a backup four that fits really well with Chet or Hart.

Dallas: Maxi and a 2025 first (top 6 protected in case Luka gets hurt at the Olympics or a bar)
Dallas: Jaylin, Mitchell, and 2 2nds

Dallas keeps a backup PF on the roster but adds a POA defender. Also opens up some more apron space to use the rest of the MLE / a deadline trade etc. if they want to redo the supporting cast.

I wouldn't give up on Dieng just yet if I'm OKC, very young 6'10" guys who can shoot and handle a bit deserve longer looks, longer than 2 years, and I wouldn't trade the 1st in 25 for this package if I'm DAL.
DSJ is available at vet min as POA defender who can't shoot.
Jaylin Williams can't really play the 4, I don't think he's a viable rotation player in the PO, he played for OKC out of necessity, they had no one else, and it was really bad, Maxi is a much better player than him at both the 4 and the 5...

Yeah, I do like it better with Kenrich than Jaylin. Just couldn’t make the money work, though adding Powel would’ve solved that really..

I don’t mind Jaylin as much as you do though. He is a 4th big currently but he’s really young and can rebound and shoot. That’s nice to have.

I don’t know if DSJ is good now. I know Charlotte fans loved him. And then Brooklyn fans. But he’s still a vet min for a reason..

And yeah - I think overall the organization agrees that a healthy Maxi is better than most backup bigs in the league. Just hard to bet on that or for him to shoot when open..

I might? Agree wouldn't want to add picks because Toronto isn't close enough to competing to be giving up picks for a better fit on bench players

I see the argument for the swap, but then again I was looking forward to having 2 real, live actual PGs on the Raptors for the first time since Lowry left in 2021 -- it's so hard to have a functional bench with only 1 PG on the team.

Depends how much they believe in Shead who is older as a rookie as well. Not sure D. Mitchell was a true pg either to be fair

Boy is this bad for Dallas. Get two players that won't even crack the rotation come playoff time while spending one of their fewer assets. Heck no.
