To their credit they still have spare parts to do it. It’s really depends on if they can find a deal for a player worth the few assets they still have.

Isn’t KBD injured? Will he be back this season? Seems like he has the size to play backup PF

He's not going to be in the rotation but in case of injury or foul trouble he's decent break in case of emergency.

Bates-Diop missed the end of the season with a right shin stress reaction, but he's expected to be healthy entering training camp.

Seems like the Knicks are stacking up on wings which is a refreshing approach.I think we are gonna use KBD and Hart as our backup 3/4 and they will resign Precious as our backup 5

Me too bro... and the way the NBA is set up - Precious should be fine @ C

But this trade triggers a 2nd apron hard cap. They haven’t completed the roster yet. They did this trade to avoid a hard cap of the first apron

What triggers the hard cap is sending out more money than receiving in a trade when being over the cap, they avoided this, what are you not understanding? If they now use the Obi TPE to trade for Richards, let's say, that would trigger the hard cap at the second apron, though because it takes on actual salary for a TPE.

It would trigger the hard cap at the first apron because the TPE was generated last season.

lmao ppl really think this guy is good? must be a generational thing, i can't imagine anyone over 30 who looks at wemby and thinks "my god there's the next all time great"

such a strange phenomenon, purely an nba drive marketing product. fascinating to watch this play out

Yes, everyone thinks he's good, yesterday in an exhibition against Turkey they made 1 single basket the 20 minutes he was playing. You should go tell them he's not that good.

imagine being that old and miserable you can't recognize a generational talent.

Teams send less help in the playoffs and matchups can impact a lot of what teams do. Against a team like the Bucks we're not going to be giving the ball to Randle a lot in the post, one on one vs Giannis in a series where he's trying to beat him like that would stall our offense out. So then he becomes more of a driver and spacer, and if he's not shooting a high percentage on threes the defense sags off.

What works in the regular season may not work in the playoffs and my biggest issue with Randle is we haven't seen success in the playoffs, he needs to show me he can do it, his regular season doesn't matter to me anymore he has to prove it in the playoffs. Some guys games do not transfer to the playoffs, we've seen it with Embiid, sometimes with PG13, a lot of times with Harden. The Celtics offense works cause everyone can shoot threes, Randle so far is shooting 28% from three in the playoffs. If you plugged him into their offense the ball moves less and the defense sags more, it's what happened with Smart. If we had Lauri our offense would look like theirs where no one player needs to create a lot and there's terror as the ball swings around to find the one of the 4 guys shooting 40% from three and all of them can drive on the catch

We're not getting Lauri, if he ends up with the Spurs they are going to make the playoffs and have one of the most devastating front courts we've seen in decades.

I think what's telling about Lauri is that he's yet to make the playoffs yet in his career. Puts up numbers but cant even get there. Randle at least gets us to the playoffs. Im not sold on him being a winning player.

Just randle's presence alone helps Brunson significantly in the post season. This is from last year.
Read on Twitter

I hear the concerns about Randle's playoffs. But he had some good games last year on one ankle. He also shot 41% from the field (which is bad) against the heat but very similar to RJ's 42% FG who a lot of people felt like he played great.

I think Randle can figure it out. We saw flashes last year on one ankle that he can play well in the post season.

Randle has struggled in the playoffs but I always felt we needed him to beat Miami.

Also, I think people are really underrating how much space he will have with not just OG and Divo, but Mikal as well. He’s gonna have a great year.

A healthier squad and a great year by Randle will have us battling for first seed with the (In)Celcucks.

Dam...Taurean Prince would have been a nice addition, I wonder if he got more than the TPMLE from the Bucks.

I think he followed Darvin Ham, who was playing favorites with Prince on the Lakers.

That might be the first time 'followed Darvin Ham' has ever been used in history, unless they were talking about his dog.

The New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets are expanding the Mikal Bridges trade to include additional players on both sides. This will allow the Knicks to avoid being hard-capped at the first apron. This gives New York additional flexibility to make further moves.

Shake Milton will sign a three-year, $9 million deal as part of a sign-and-trade from the Knicks to the Nets. Only the first season will be guaranteed for Milton in the deal. New York will also send Mamadi Diakite to Brooklyn, along with the previously agreed upon Bojan Bogdanovic and multiple first-round picks and swaps.

I just caught up in the thread...
This is why we should never doubt our FO!

What a relief!

Using a TPE generated last season or using part of the non taxpayer MLE would trigger a first apron hard cap. Taking back more money than sending out in a trade or receiving a player via sign and trade triggers hard cap at 1st apron.

A second apron hard cap was generated by aggregating salaries. I also believe sending an outgoing sign and trade player (Milton) also triggers the 2nd apron hard cap.

Remember - this system was designed to level the playing field for big market teams who could eat the tax and small market teams that can’t (and save low income owners like the Kronkes and Balmers money)
