Re: Prodigal Son: The Miles Bridges Thread
If we can flip Norman for a big, then I'd go ahead and take Norman + Mann + a couple 2nd's.
Think Utah would swap Kessler for a couple of our guards?

Re: Prodigal Son: The Miles Bridges Thread
In reality, this effort at a S&T is taking too long. Why? Hard to find a match. Miles gets a say in this relative to where he’d be willing to go, how much $$, and ultimately a yes or no on the offer. Hornets will only dance if the compensation fits what they want. A lot of the speculation we as fans offer up is just that. I’d happily deal him to an Utah for John Collins, but I don’t think they want him. I’ve said maybe go with the two players from the Lakers being spoken of in rumor lamd who could go out in a trade, Russell and Hachimura. The dollars would work, but either the Lakers still want Derozan more, or don’t really want Miles, or we don’t want their players.
Complicated.
Complicated.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Re: Prodigal Son: The Miles Bridges Thread
Can we completely count out Charlotte for Lauri?
Why not use draft capital from a Miles trade as part of a bid for Lauiri.
The Warriors (Kuminga), Kings (K. Murray) and Spurs (draft capital) are all bidding.

I'd like for us to make an attempt to trade for Lauri, but I'd be surprised if Peterson and new ownership are that aggressive this soon. That said if not for Lauri himself the Hornets could get involved as the third team. We could take in Wiggins, Barnes, Z. Collins, etc. and send Miles to Utah in a sign and trade.

I would have a general policy to never make a deal with DA. These prices like 4 picks for M. Bridges, the price for Gobert, they are just too high.

Re: Prodigal Son: The Miles Bridges Thread
Lauriis 27, but Miles is right there at 26.
It's an important salary slot for any upgrades down the road.
So, why not make the upgrade now?
Lauri - Mark is crazy.

Re: Prodigal Son: The Miles Bridges Thread
Marc Stein saying that the Cavs are interested in Miles. I imagine it would be a double sign and trade of Miles for Okoro. Not sure I love that because I like Josh Green more than Okoro and they're very similar players.

Re: Prodigal Son: The Miles Bridges Thread
Cleveland doesn't have cap space to swap Miles for Okoro.
They'd have to trade us somebody else too. The only bigger contracts they have are Garland (36) and Allen (20) and Strus (15).
Maybe another 3-team that sends Miles to Cleveland, Garland somewhere else, and Okoro + for us.
I don't think they'd trade Allen for him.

Re: Prodigal Son: The Miles Bridges Thread
Funny - I was daydreaming about Miles for Allen yesterday and dismissed it as a pipe dream because it is. But a man can dream. I know the Cavs have stated they have no interest in moving him.

Well, Okoro wouldn’t be an awful player to take back but I’m just not very excited about that.

Re: Prodigal Son: The Miles Bridges Thread
I rate the PF on the market:
1 - Lauri
2 - Miles
3 - C. Johnson
I'm content with any option (upgrade, slight downgrade, Miles himself).
Hornets are in a good position to pivot.
Seems we're fielding offers. And we need a PF.

I don't see how a team can start from this position and walk away empty-handed.
So once again, no excuse for losing him for nothing here.

Nope not the right star to sell out for. Lauri is a 3rd option on a contender. If we selling out it needs to be for a real game changer. Lauri makes us a borderline play in team. We not a real threat to beat anyone in the top 4. Is it worth it to trade most of our picks to be a 6-8 seed in the playoffs for the next 4 years?
Be patient a better star will become available as they always do. When Melo proves he can stay healthy and Miller continues to develop into a star we will be much more attractive down the line.

Lauri - Mark is crazy.
Because Lauri is not good enough to make us a legit contender down the line. He's already 27. By the time Miller starts hitting his prime he will be in his 30's.
I'm all for trading for a future star, but it has to be the right star. Someone better will become available. Just wait it out.

I don't envision emptying the cupboard.
1st from Miles
Heat 1st
Mavs 1st
Release protections on 2025 Hornets 1st owed SA
Spurs draft capital.
We skip the next draft but control all our own1st round picks.
Lauri is a #1 option. We disagree there.

That's your offer. In real life Ainge is asking for much more than that. That dude will finesse us as he does everyone else.MasterIchiro wrote:JustBuzzin wrote:MasterIchiro wrote:Can we completely count out Charlotte for Lauri?
