Re: The Official 2024 Offseason Thread Part 2
Thoughts??
I think that I'd much rather have Allen.off of the bench playing alongside of O'neale at the backup 3 and actually give that starting SF position to another vet option with more size at the 3 and better defense. Whilst also moving Allen to the bench to give our bench more shooting/ firepower and better quality depth. I like Covington, but would also be open to bringing back Jae Crowder too..
Who's left and available in free agency that'd best fit our needs at the 3?

Same. We don't need more offense with the starters, we need defense or passing. I think Dunn will be starting sooner rather than later. BW disagrees and lilfishi22 gave me control of his sig if that happens, so obviously there's some difference of opinion here about him.
I just think his game meshes well with the Big 3 very well if he's as good on D as he's projected to be.

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

Agree - I am bringing Allen off the bench if all all possible. I like your idea of Covington or even Jake Rowder - instead of Okogie
I think that is the best for the starters as well as the bench. Allen, Plumlee, Morris and O'Neale would be a solid bench rotation - I think (knock on wood)

KD at the 4 is gonna continue to be a huge problem. Should have been a 3 to begin with, but they needed an Aaron Gordon type of player (in terms of skill sets) to make that happen.
Starting Grayson is just a greedy pipe dream because they don't consistently have the ball handling/movement to take advantage.

My hopes as I have said is to have an athletic rim running defensive starter at PF. If Dunn can do that, then he is ideal for me as well. We have scorers in the 3 and post game in Nurk, we need athleticism and defense.

Sidery doesn't have any clue about it, that’s his opinion like any of us have around here.

Sure! Sorry for not clarifying better. What I meant was that theoretically if this was our actual lineup outcome, how would you guys view it and what changes if any would you make in this scenario?

So running it back with the same starters and still no bench depth with a sprinkle of offensively challenged rookies. Yeah that’s the solution.
I haven’t been emotionally invested in this team since the Nash era. Sure the 2021 run was fun but lacked some type of magic to that teen.
Either way, Ishbia came in promising the world and ultimately delivered nothing but doing typical arrogant rich people mistakes when they don’t have any idea what they are doing but have been told how great they are their whole life (kinda like how Trump destroyed this country). He literally made the exact same mistakes as Mikhail Prokhorov did when he bought the nets. History always repeats itself in some form.

The contract was negotiated by Klutch Sports.
This is nothing new, we already know James Jones bends over backwards for Klutch.

Re: The Official 2024 Offseason Thread Part 2
A fairly interesting read for those who don't want to continue reading the same posts over and over and are biding time til Summer League....
https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/40484168/why-klay-thompson-era-ended-golden-state-warriors
The past two years had been miserable as they both tried to evolve, to accept their new realities. Rather than fight against the dying of the light, why not fight for something new?
Thompson loved watching the Dallas Mavericks run throughout the playoffs this year. He was intrigued by the young Oklahoma City Thunder. He had always wanted to play for the Lakers, in the uniform of his childhood idol, Kobe Bryant.
In the final week before free agency started on Saturday, Thompson met with Kerr in L.A. and told him all this, sources said. He called Green and Curry and told them he wanted a fresh start then asked them not to use their organizational clout to interfere with his negotiations with the team.
Then he called Lacob and general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. and asked them to help him get to a team of his choosing, via a sign-and-trade, if necessary.
Everyone understood and wished him well. This would be an amicable separation.
Dallas was his top choice. He loved the way the Mavericks played and believed he'd be an ideal fit alongside Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, sources said. He came into a dinner meeting with the Mavericks' front office having studied tape of the team and already projecting out how he could help them.
Thompson expressed to Warriors coach Steve Kerr his enjoyment in watching the Mavs' recent playoff run. Now, Thompson will be joining Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving in Dallas. Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports
The Mavericks were thrilled to get a player of Thompson's ability and experience on such a reasonably priced contract. The team had a great run to get to the Finals this season, but sources said Dallas felt it needed more veteran leadership to build off the performance.
The Thunder also were interested in Thompson but ended up prioritizing big man Isaiah Hartenstein with their cap space.
That left the Lakers. His father's team. His idol's team. LeBron's team. The team ultimately was willing to offer Thompson more years and more money than he accepted from Dallas. Sources said James was willing to take less and the Lakers were trying to make trades that would've cleared four years and nearly $80 million for Thompson.
James had several deep conversations with Thompson about the idea of playing together, sources said.
But something about playing for the Lakers apparently felt too much like playing for the Warriors. As one source close to him put it, "Would this be trading one fishbowl for another?"
All Thompson had talked about in the two weeks since he had decided and accepted that his time with the Warriors was over was wanting "new experiences" and a "fresh start."
Dallas seemed like a better place to get that.

Where is the problem? That's a great contract for the Suns and Oso.

I don’t know if you’ve been living under a rock but 2nd rd picks getting “substantial guarantees” is not common and this has been discussed ad nauseam by everyone around the world at this point because of the contract the Lakers gave LeBron’s son. My bestfriend that lives in UK told me Bronny’s contract was what they were discussing at a barbershop there when he went for a haircut yesterday.
So if you live anywhere in the US, you surely can’t avoid it even for people that don’t follow sports.

Alot of posters here would bash no matter what happened. They want us to trade Booker and KD for scraps and tank. Anything short of that and it's bashing time.
Even if we had traded Okogie for #1 and #2 picks somehow, these dudes would whine. Some of them. Dunn was a good pick and we got him after moving down and getting XT stuff.

You’re right, the Suns have gave so much pleasure throughout franchise history to not whine about. We should enjoy that fat trophy case and appreciate them more as they continue building so many winners. Especially with such a great combo of GM and ownership in James Jones and Ishbia who haven’t been getting clowned by national media since the day he bought the team right? Riiiight?
Edit: to add, I don’t care about this contract necessarily. It doesn’t matter in the grand scheme, it’s a cheap contract but to Sundeuce point, it is a rarity of sorts to give lot of guarantees to 2nd rd picks in general. And you’re talking about Dunn then this isn’t even about Dunn lol. I don’t really care about any of the draft picks, I didn’t follow the draft or college ball much at all this year. I like to think the people like idiotic James Jones who gets paid millions and millions to do it for a living would be able to get it right but he’s shown many times that he can’t.
