This team still has the same roster holes it did last season. There has to be more moves coming. It would be ridiculous to be a second apron team with this roster.

The key is becoming an elite defender.

Offensively if he uses his court vision to move the ball, runs the open court, attacks the boards, and at least takes wide open 3’s that’d be plenty.

It’d be huge if his defense gets there this season but that seems like a whole lot to ask for. Offense matters dramatically less comparatively.

If we were to bring Pat Bev back I’d feel better about pumping up Ajax’s mins to see how far his development gets before the playoffs.

AJJ was mostly fine on offense imo. He should have seen more time but was his foul rate that kept him off the court.

He’s intense and can get spastic at times playing a little out of control. Just as much of an excuse as a reason the foul rate was excessive. Once he slows the NBA game down and becomes a more confident shooter, he’s the guy.

I see the spurs and lakers are interested in Lopez who and what do you want back from either team.
Spurs would be interesting to me they got more draft capital and young players

Not really, we have Dame, Giannis, Khris, Brook accounting for $152m. Second apron is $188.

So 10 rosters spots account for the other $36m is not shocking at all. And Bobby/Pat take up $22 of that. And if healthy, we’re a top 4 team.

I’d probably do something around Keldon Johnson and Collins. Then move Bobby and Pat for a center.

How much cap space does San Antonio have left?

Not sure what assets they’d trade for Lopez that we’d want but dropping some salary could be valuable as part of a multi-team trade.

Idk if anyone else linked Brook to the Spurs but here’s Matt Moore 6/27:

The Bucks aren't being secretive about their designs on reshaping the roster, with Doc Rivers believing the core that contended between 2021 and 2024 needs a shake-up.

Brook Lopez is most consistently the name brought up as involved in discussions, with San Antonio among the interested teams.

One of the problems, though, is most of the teams looking for center help want it along their younger timelines. The Pelicans, for example, will likely not retain Jonas Valanciunas because he's not on their timeline, making Lopez's fit questionable.

Will the Bucks trade any of the other starters? So far, there's been no rumors of Khris Middleton being available, though Bobby Portis and Pat Connaughton are thought to be gettable for the right price.

Still think we need to find a way to get a center from Atlanta in the Murray trade.

ATL In: Portis, Daniels and NOP picks
NOP In: Murray
TOR In: Connaughton and MIL 2031 2nd
MIL In: Nance Jr and Mitchell

Bucks save $7MM which allows them to get under the 2nd Apron

Sign Chimezie Metu (vet min) to be our 3rd big.

PG - Dame, Mitchell
SG - Wright, Green, Johnson
SF - Middleton, AJJ, Beauchamp, Livingston
PF - Giannis, Prince, Smith
C - Lopez, Nance Jr, Metu

If you're moving Bobby it's for a starting caliber wing or 2-guard. I don't really see the need for another Center if you're keeping Brook.

Dame/Wright
???/Pat
Middleton
Giannis/Prince
Brook/Bobby

That's your 8 guys that are any sort proven playoff dudes, but the two problems are obviously A) we still have a big hole at the other guard/wing spot opposite Khris, and B) half your front-court is still pretty matchup dependent.

If he plays with more confidence he could easily play an offensive role like Derrick Jones Jr played between Irving(Lillard) and Doncic(Middleton). It could be even better given his passing ability. Doc wants Lillard to bring up the ball which we will see how that works but if he would empower Andre to attack on the breaks like Giannis does to start the season I think it would be great for his confidence. He doesn't have to do too much but just give him the green light on breaks and on open 3s. Plus tell him not to defer when he is in the Dunkers spot. I'd have him watch film on Jones Jr, Iguodala, and Phx's Mikal Bridges.

Also, if they did move Ajax to a starter then they would need Khris to up his 3pt volume considerably. Let him work the mid-range game in crunch time and when 1 of Dame/Giannis is off the floor.

Ex...

Wright
Green
Middleton
Prince
Giannis/Lopez/Portis

Or

Lillard
AJax/Wright
Middleton
Prince
Lopez/Portis

I would love the trade if you could keep Bobby out and do Pat and a 2nd for Mitchell. To me
Nance is not good enough of a defender to replace Portis' rebounding, shooting, and scoring. Portis is the only fringe starting level player and the Bucks get back two fringe rotation players that avg less than 20 minutes last year. Nance Jr. Avg 20 if you round up but I still would want a clear top 6 rotation piece back not two top 9-10 rotation players.

I’d do it. Duren and Smith is an ideal future pairing and Giannis and Duren is a nightmare front court for opposing bigs. I’d hope this would be the type of trade we could pull off with those 2 assets combined.

If healthy we’re a top 4 team in the East*, not a top 4 team in the league. That “if” is carrying a ton of weight considering our top 3 have played zero playoff games together and the Giannis/Khris combo have barely managed to play together in the postseason for three years now.

We don’t have a starting shooting guard on the roster. We don’t have a defensive wing on the roster. We have 5 players who are good NBA players at the moment (3 of which are excellent) and the rest are a pile of maybes.

Prince is a defensive wing, see his work in MPLS.

Also, EC> WC.

He’s not a defensive wing though. He plays best as an undersized 4. If he’s our defensive wing the season is over before it started.
