OOF

I would think some people here are unaware of who Jodie Meeks is.

Jodie was 6'3 with a 6'4 wingspan. Ja'Kobe is 6'4 with a 6'10 wingspan. Jodie's skillset is Ja'Kobe's floor. He's already great at getting to the line. He has potential to be better than meeks in every facet of the game.

I'm liking the pick more and more. I'm thinking Coby White someday hopefully, keep working on the handle.

It sounds like Drew will be keeping a close eye on the Raptors. As the call ended, he signed off with: “We are the north, baby!”

This made me chuckle.

i like the fact he's a bit of a ft merchant. We haven't had a good ft merchant since we traded derozan hopefully he gets the same type of calls from the nba refs!

Showing the rookies what we don't want the Raptors to turn into.

Honestly taking them to a Jays game this season is just punishment at this point.

I think it's smart. I'm thinking Shead and Ja'Kobe might be Astros fans, being from Texas.

At the very least, it's something familiar.

Just came across this old video. I don’t know if it was already posted

We could see that he genuinely care and that he has the full respect of his coach.

I'm liking this pick more and more. We went with the BPA but there are other key decisions we have to make going forward.

Do we value stretch bigs and true point guards? I don't feel these are as important as they use to be. Especially considering you have to compete against Wemby and other elite big men to win a championship now.

The optimal build for our roster moving forward is to obtain two 7 foot defensive bigs with massive wingspans who are defense first. I would disregard offense and shooting and just develop it over the years.

Then I'd have bigger guards who can shoot extended above the break like Gradey and Walter at the guard spots with Barnes at SF. It will stretch the floor and give Barnes and our guards an easy game against drop coverage.

I don’t have much expectations for him outside of being a decent movement shooter.

If he could be KCP for us, that would be the best case scenario imo.

I poured over a lot of different mocks leading up to the draft. One pattern became clear - someone was going to fall to us who we will have to take. Based on high school rankings and recruitment status it became apparent one or both of those in Walter and Collier would be there at 19. Two upside picks. This was helped by Edey, Ware, Salaun, Bub and da Silva crowding the field. At times it looked like we would be looking at Jaylon Tyson best case scenario. But Walter was there and we had the choice of the longer JaKobe as better shooter and more complete game vs. beasty Collier with less head for the game. For us 19 was as good as 8 in the grander scheme. Things just got better and better as Raps put faith in the overall talent in this draft taking a freshman, a junior, a senior and an 18 year old project and African league man child baller.

We also got the 9th pick from the stacked 2021 draft class who has some Lowry in him. And we got him for next to zero cost plus two picks. So our guard depth just got a whole lot better. It begs the question: what will 2025 bring? I think Mitchell could really help a second unit. Imagine twin guards, Casey style, coming off the bench... We might want to S+T Gary over to Coach Nurse and get Paul Reed back. Another opportunity. Gary mle to Philly and big Reed coming home.

His Ft rate gives him more offensive potential than a 3 & D player I would think. Whether he becomes good defensively is another thing though.

That would be considered a more or less successful pick in any draft.
