Washington takes a swing at Garland, Kuz they wanna

Post#1 » by penbeast0 » Fri Jul 5, 2024 1:56 pm

Washington offers Kyle Kuzma, Malcolm Brogdon, and Corey Kispert
to Cleveland for Darius Garland and Caris LeVert

Why for Cleveland. With Mitchell taking the primary on-ball guard role, deal Garland for a guard that has more size and offball value in Brogdon, if he can stay healthy. Additionally, they get Kuzma, a combo forward who can score, create for himself and others, and who is a great locker room presence, counting on him working harder on defense and shot selection with more talent around him. Additionally, they get Kispert who has been a .600ts guy for his whole career and showed he could get to the basket and finish as well while upping his usage to around the 20 mark last year.

Why for Washington. They are giving up three good rotation guys but none have the upside potential of Garland. LeVert is just salary matching who takes over the Kispert role as Washington continues to try to acquire and develop a star.

Easy no from Cleveland. Why would they want Brogdon instead of Lavert? Even if you take that out and add George you’re still a first or two away.

Kuzma, George, Brogdon, and Coulibay for Garland, Niang, and Jerome.

This cant be a serious offer? Garland is younger and better than Kuzma. Jason Kapono's long lost brother Kispert doesnt bridge that gap

I'd like to know why OP thinks it's okay to not include any picks going to CLE in this?

I would imagine that Kuzma and Levert are insanely close in value. Like, they’re so similar as players in terms of impact, just one at the 1/2/3 and the other at mostly 4.

To me, all 3 of Kuzma, Levert, and Brogdon are likely in a very close tier of impact. I can’t imagine their trade values are all too different.

I agree that the value is way short for Cleveland. However, I do think that while similar in value, Brogdon is a better fit for Cleveland due to superior shooting, plus if I recall correctly, Brogdon has a very good reputation on defense. Maybe others can chime in on that.

Garland has a career 3 point % of 384 on 5.8 attempts per game. Brogdon has a career 3 point % of 391 on 4.3 attempts per game. I have Garland as the better shooter, and off ball player, as well.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

I was replying to a post asking why the Cavs would prefer Brogdon over Lavert, not Brogdon over Garland. However, due to fit, I am not sure a downgrade from Garland to Brogdon is that large of a fall. On the Wizards, Garland is >>>> Brogdon, but on the Cavs, I am not sure there is much short term loss. However, due to age, overall league value, etc. the Cavs would need a good deal of extra value in such a trade.

Hey, if it's short, it's short. Not adding a good 1st or the likes of Coulibaly to try to fix it. Garland is a nice player, but a small point guard who is difficult to add to another small guard. Who knows who Washington will get as an eventual primary player but don't want to limit that potential future at the moment. The Wiz are talent poor, Garland alone won't be a difference maker.
