If we had Monte it would go that deep. Without Monte, he is in by default. You don’t want to force Ant to PG whenever Mike is off the floor. NAW is not a PG and cannot really play make. So unless your gonna replace RD with whoever we get as the 3rd string, he is gonna be 15-25 minutes a night or more in the playoffs.

Here I'm referring to the role as what his job is on the court, not necessarily the minutes he is playing.

My bad, I saw “ I think his shot creation will be the determining factor on if he can play in the postseason, not necessarily his defense.” Then assumed you were talking about minutes.

I probably should have phrased "if he can play" as "if he can be effective"

I got you. I will take the blame for this one :). Your reading is entirely valid in the context of your post :)

How about "Ham" for a nickname (has this been mentioned?)?

a lot of potential calls...ham radio...pass the ham...ham wallet (this is a Blood house gang reference)...hamburgler.
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.

Where do you get that from?

Try typing "Rob Dillingham scouting report" into Google, and see how many websites call him a combo guard. He was at least as much of a scorer as a distributer in college. I'm sure we will be playing him mostly at "PG", but he is going to be more of a DLo type player than a Mike Conley type player.

And that's not a bad thing. We wanted him BECAUSE he can create his own shot and flat out score!! Yes, that's it. He is nothing like Dlo who will shoot you out of a ballgame. This guy has a million ways to score around the basket with either hand.

You will be a fan in no time.

Yep. I've heard that one. I don't like it.

I’m sure Rob will be crushed…

But it appears to be his preferred nickname. This is his site:

I think he needs to get a new name! Thrillingham is much better. He just doesn't know it yet.

Maybe this has been mentioned and I missed it, but I wanted to make people aware.

San Antonio already owns a pickswap for 2030 with Dallas. The Spurs can only swap with one team, so the only way we’d have to give up that Top 1 protected 2030 swap is if we had the best pick for all three teams, MIN, SAS and DAL.

Thanks.

And I hate when some people word it that we gave up two picks for him. No, we gave up one and an opportunity to swap. In a swap, you still get something back. We wouldn't lose our pick entirely.

Something else I think Dillingham will bring this team is GRAVITY. Defenses will have to account for him and will adjust, creating openings and lanes for others.

I didn't know. Great info. Thanks. I will NEVER understand giving up a current #8 overall for a random pick 7 years from now plus a swap 6 years from now. When I saw what we got Dilly for it boggled my brain.

Another interesting comparison I thought of today. Even have similar nicknames, though Rob's isn't based on his name in the same way.

I enjoyed the Nick the quick, Cedric Ceballos and Vlade Lakers. I quit being a fan of the Lakers as soon as they added Kobe.

Dilly really puts the jump in jump shot. He's often shooting at maximus elevation.

I know lots of players get good elevation on their jumpers, but Dilly takes it to another level IMO.

I swear it drives me insane when even the talking heads don't understand this. San Antonio did not receive 2 picks in the trade. The got one and a draft position trade if they choose, a draft position trade that is absolutely useless if you aren't better than the other team just to begin with.
From a fundamental standpoint it is better for a man to have nothing but be under the protection of Jesus Christ than for him to have everything he could ever want yet be completely without.

Eastern Conference executive No. 3: He’s kind of like the Tyrese Maxey of this draft. ‘Cause if you look at his Kentucky numbers, his stats are way better than Maxey’s were coming out of Kentucky. Guys like that, in that combo box, that can score, they stay around. And that’s what they do — they score. Dillingham is 6-1, 6-2. When everybody kept saying he’s little, I was saying ‘he ain’t Isiah Thomas little, or Nate Robinson little.’ They’re like, ‘I worry about his size.’ I’m like, he’s probably bigger than f—— Maxey. When he came out, everybody was talking about size, and what position can he play. When a guy can hoop, let him hoop and put him out there and leave him alone. That’s Dillingham. Let’s not overthink it too much. He’s got short arms, so he doesn’t look tall.

I don’t think I’ve heard anyone ask that specific question before! I don’t think so, but I’m not sure.
