Currently on a journey to catalog old bands I use to listen to I found an old play list with over 300 hours of music on it lol. I'm going thought a-z by band lol I'm on the Ma's but about a 3/4 of the way through the play list total! The play list was from like 2010-2018

Never thought I needed to hear Eminem rapping over the Steve Miller Band

This the catchiest **** I ever heard in my life

So, how many little kids still wanna act like me?
I'm a bigger prick than cacti be
And that's why these words sting, just like you were being attacked by bees
In the coupe leaning back my seat
Bumpin' R. Kelly's favorite group, the Black Guy Pees
In my Air Max 90s
White tees, walkin' parental advisory
My transgender cat's Siamese
Identifies as black, but acts Chinese
Like a ****' hacky sack I treat
the whole world, 'cause I got it at my feet

honestly better than TS Eliot in his prime

& here is the greatest of the Cap Verdean singers, one of the greatest singers in any genre, the extraordinary Cesaria Evora, singing the same "morna" (a traditional song/dance form of the island).

If you don't know her album "Miss Perfumado" ... it's never too late....

Before this, I hadn't enjoyed an Em track since, like, 2005. A couple of groaners (cacti be, bees/words sting), but you gotta respect him giving the fans what they want -- a mix of old and new.

Of course, if we are going to fly, why not fly all the way to heaven?

AFM -- serious question: is this kind of music (unremitting super-high intensity, simple 3-chord harmonic structure) what you mostly listen to?

I.e. you'd be unlikely (or at least much less likely) to listen to, say, a Beethoven string quartet, or the New York Conemporary Five, or folk music, or Bach's Goldberg Variations, or Funkadelic, or new wave, or the Grateful Dead, or Robert Johnson, or Smoky Robinson, or the Stones, or...?

No judgment, just curiosity.

Johnny Hartman with Coltrane singing one of the greatest songs ever written:

"written" -- words & music by Billy Strayhorn.
Does anyone here (aside from Zards) even know who he was? One of the greatest musicians of the 20th century....
