Yup. Not sure it’s too late, but he’s not playing summer league. Might be a case of Indy trying to hide him a bit and keep him from getting a two way elsewhere out of camp?

Keisei Tominaga Stats
I copied from Huskers.com

The 6-foot-2 guard garnered honorable-mention All-Big Ten honors, as he averaged 13.1 points per game in 32 games, including 14 starts. He shot 50 percent from the field, including 40 percent from 3-point range, while hitting a team-high 66 3-pointers to rank eighth in the Big Ten in 3-pointers per game.

As others noted sounds like a Mad Ant. He can shoot but needs work on all other aspects of his game.

Franz Wagner just got a max extension. How much better is he than Nembhard? It's becoming 100% clear to me that we're not going to be able to afford Drew's next contract. the only caveat might be the slim possibility that we are champions this year and decide to pay the piper. so when do we trade him? now? at the deadline? next summer? in a sign and trade when he becomes a restricted free agent?

[I did some looking at trade checkers but they were treating us as over tiers that I don't think we are over. Scoot can confirm but I suspect this is a cap hold situation which will disappear in a few weeks when the reported new contracts become official]

I think there are several avenues to keep Drew. 1. He agrees to the 4/$72m this summer. 2. We let him become restricted next summer and nobody throws ridiculous money at him and we lock him up at 4/$80-90m. 3. He blows up this season and gets a huge restricted offer(Spurs come to mind of a space team that might want him). If he improves to that level then let Turner walk. 4. Keep him on the min. deal for 2 more season and let him enter unrestricted free agency in 2 years and still have Bird rights.

I was trying to find a spurs trade that was legal. Two pacers for one spur. I'll try again after contracts become official.

My guess is if Drew commands a 20M+ per year contract then you look to move McConnell and Obi to make room for Drew.

Trading others into cap space or exemptions is a possibility. Trading Drew before his dollars jump is the other option. We have others who might earn bumps but Drew has extra problems because he isn't on a first round draft pick contract.

My thoughts will not include Tyrese, Pascal, Aaron, or Myles as they’re all expected to improve as veterans. TJ McConnell is at the mercy of his body’s durability and the Pacer’s vision of his future.

A lot of young talent has come aboard the last two drafts. Will there be a small breakthrough by any of Tshiebwe, Q Jackson, Furphy, Newton, or Freeman. I think the Pacers have done well gathering talent for their draft position lately. I hope we have a hidden gem or a future role player. I like Freeman’s potential.

1.)Benn Mathurin turns into a scoring machine beast, plays better defensively, and fits into the offense or only takes a small step forward ? This will be a huge season of determining his Pacer future ? How long will he be development priority #1 ? The results could help determine Nembhard’s future path in the Pacer’s eyes.

2.)Does Andrew Nembhard further develop into a next level scorer, rebounder, and assist producer as a more aggressive baller as we’ve seen glimpses of or does he remain a bit reserved and not quite progress to his eventual higher skill levels quite yet ?

3.)Jarace Walker has shown potential in very limited minutes last season. We’ve seen willingness to make good passes, hit some 3’s, rebound, and a bit of defense. Will he get enough minutes to explode onto the scene and showcase all his abilities and justify more minutes ? How much will this affect Nesmith, Toppin, Sheppard, and Brown.

4.)Ben Sheppard was a pleasant surprise last year with his 3 point stroke and his willingness to try and defend. This guy can shoot, assist, rebound, and defend at decent levels. Does he morph into a more aggressive all around player (which someday he might) taking a big stride forward and pressing for more minutes or does he stay more reserved and even keel being a player that still defers to others ?

5.)Obi Toppin was an adequate player and re-signed as he fit in well. I hope Obi can improve his defense, rebounding, and become more aggressive scoring. He definitely has the ability to score more. Biggest question here is does he command more minutes from better play or do others keep him in less of a role with their growth ?

6.)Is this the year that Kendall Brown progresses and shows he can contribute on the Pacers roster ? If so who loses minutes ? At what position will he make a difference ? Even if he gets passed up by other players he’s still very young and an inexpensive roster spot for more development. He’s really an unknown as he’s gotten less run than Jarace and actually contributed on the Mad Ants this past season.

7.)Isiah Jackson vs. James Wiseman battle. We presume I Jax will prevail but will it be enough to re-sign him for the future ? Does Tshiebwe make a huge jump complicating the situation ? Big decisions upcoming on the future of the center position in Indy from starting to backup.

I could be in the keep Myles camp if affordable or in the strengthen the starting lineup and bench priority with 3 cheaper center options. Roster depth is very high and the Pacers will have some tough decisions.

In summary I would like to let the upcoming summer league, training camp, and season play out to which the results or lack there of could shape the future roster, moves, and needs which could provide answers we ponder plus future roster direction.

Newton, Freeman, OT, and Q. 4 players. 4 spots but that includes a standard contract and these 4 look like only two ways. of course someone could just be cut. it would simplify everything if one of them stars in the summer league.

Jackson, Brown and Tshiebwe might ultimately be vying for two roster spots.

I have Newton in that competition and OT trailing the other three. I'd put my money on Brown and a PG.

the article points out that Brown has a small guarantee at the start of the season with the rest of it in January. I postpone bringing JJ back to give Brown a chance to earn or not earn his full guarantee.

So I heard the announcer say Enrique Freeman was given a 2 way.

What is the status of these players. Has any of them secured a roster spot or a 2 way contract ?

Furphy and Brown have standard contracts. Q and OT have two-way offers. I can see Q getting the standard contract opening a two-way for Newton. I had it the other way but Newton hardly playing tonight.
