If Spurs lose the Lauri sweepstakes...NOP, maybe POR

Post#1 » by JHFVF07 » Sat Jul 6, 2024 1:24 pm

Im still trying to find a home to my boy, Ingram. If the Spurs decides that Ainge price is too high...

Spurs out: Collins, Keldon Johnson, two 1sts(wich ones and protections to be discussed).
Spurs In: Ingram.

San Antonio spends some draft capital(and capspace to pay Ingram) and get Wemby a "cheap" second option for the next years.
CP3/Castle
Vassel
Ingram
Sochan(need a PF upgrade urgent)
Wemby.

NOP out: Ingram
NOP in: Collins, K. Johnson and two 1sts.

NOP trades Ingram, open minutes/shots to Murphy, geting a stopgap Center, backup SF, both signed for more years, and some draft capital. Maybe they can add POR to this deal, rerouting the Spurs package for Ayton.

Herb/McCollum

Collins is marginal as a backup center at this point. An unnecessary extra wing and a low-end backup center can't be very attractive for NO.

The prize on this deal are the 2 picks. If you add them to Collins salary and offer around you can easily find a good Center to start.

That kind of needs to be added into this deal as regifting Collins before the season starts is difficult (at least NO couldn't bundle him with anyone else - even Johnson - for matching for another 6 months). I can't imagine NO trading Ingram (or McCollum if they go that way) without getting a credible starting center back.

Blazers absolutely should be working to give Ayton for that package. They could even trim it to one first.

Ayton and Ingram aren't interchangeable. There's nothing there to make SA do that even if you took out both firsts.

EDIT: I see they wanted this to be a three-team trade. Makes more sense for SA and Portland, but I'm not sure NOP wants a center like Ayton either.

If we added Portland, Ayton would go to NOP, Ingram to Spurs and Collins, Johnson and pick(s) to POR.

Or you dont think SAS value Ingrams for that value?

Edit: I think Ingram and Ayton are both talented but flawed players, curiously both lack heart. They can produce but neither are 1st option material. The thing is Ayton has one more year on his deal and plays Center, a position NOP needs. And NOP are shopping Ingram, but we dont have a lot of teams lining up to sign Ingram to his next contract. Those who might are current tank teams who can wait till next year to sign him.

That’s fine. I also had a typo, it was supposed to say willing, not working. I was just responding to the OP’s suggestion from a Blazers perspective, not trying to convince that other teams should accept.
