You can say he’s screwed but it’s just gonna be another 2 year player option contract or something and we stay in Miles limbo for two more offseasons. It’s gonna be miserable

I imagine the delay is every side not wanting a fourth consecutive offseason in limbo.

At this point, it's in Bridges' best interest to sign something realistic even if it's not a homerun contract... instead of the $25-30M he was in line for two years ago, he's made $0 and $8M in those two years. No way he throws away a third year of salary to retain his flexibility, especially as he no longer has the "future star" shine on him that he had when he was 23

Yeah, he should be hungry, but his agent may have a different read on the Pistons' willingness to feed him.

50/50 on Miles taking our very firm final offer instead of the market level offer from Pistons. Presumably it's higher. Pistons have 26 million, and an open spot at SF after inking Tobias to play the 4.

Addition - I do believe the Pistons path would be through sign-and-trade. We are willing to save them some money to buffer the cost of a roster that is not at all competitive. And James Borrego just withdrew his name from their head coaching search.

Pistons just drafted Holland and traded for THJ. They also have Thompson needing minutes.

I don't see how they have a need on the wing.

THJ is not a longterm piece, neither is Tobias.

By the time Holland and Ausar are ready to contribute win shares, PF will reopen for Miles.

Tobias signed for 2 seasons.

Right now, Holland, Ausar AND THJ are bench players.

They are absolutely wanting to start Thompson, who was very good for them last year and needs court time to develop. They aren't looking to bump him to the bench.

Uh huh. He deserves starter minutes? You must think very highly of him.

They are not a good team. They are highly incentived to invest in their young guys.

Go to the Detroit board and ask if you think they agree that they want to bench Thompson.

So Ausar and Holland can't still develop from the bench? According to Clifford, practice is how prospects develop. Bench minutes is a step up.

25m per year for only 3 years?

I'll take it.

Miles more than likely cost himself 10-15 per year and 2 extra years because of his actions.

3/75 is very reasonable, I thought he'd want at least 100m total.

Crowd goes mild? Happy to not lose an investment for nothing. Contract seems fair based on some of the speculation in the thread. A bit of a surprise. Not gonna root against him, but man did you blow it.

Surprised to not see a team option on that 3rd year

So that’s why all the cap cash out moves…Miles is signing and the band plays on!

That’s a good rate, but it also carries risk in that there are no morals clauses or provisions of protection. Better hope he’s a good guy from now on.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Hope he earns it. I doubt it, but at least the deal is short.

Nice that it expires before we have to resign Brandon Miller. Hard to believe that Mark Williams only has 2 years left on his rookie deal.
