Heat-Jazz-Pelicans
Input from three fan bases on this proposal
Pelicans get Walker Kessler, Jordan Clarkson and Duncan Robinson
Jazz get Tyler Herro and the Heat’s 2026 via Lakers 2nd round pick, and 2031 Second Rd Pick
Heat get Brandon Ingram
Why?
Pelicans are shopping Ingram and need a center and shooting around their current core. This checks both of those boxes. Griffin has been interested in Robinson in the past and Clarkson can add scoring punch off the bench. It also only adds $600,000 to their payroll. Splits the Ingram deal into three manageable deals.
Jazz get Herro who Ainge has been interested in the past. He can be a go to scorer for an emerging or rebuilding Jazz team. He can fit with George in the backcourt. He is young enough to fit with the core and if he thrives similar to Lauri they can deal him in the future for more value. These also get additional 2nd rd picks in this deal.
Heat get Ingram to add length and athleticism to their team. Spo can see what he can unleash in Ingram as a facilitator and scorer. Depending on what happens with Butler, Ingram can be resigned if Butler does indeed opt out. Worse case scenario his deal expires and Butler opts out and the Heat are left with tons of cap space next summer. This deal also reduces this years payroll so the Heat can sign someone like Tyus Jones or another guard with the MLE.

Weird fit for Utah as we need to play the young guys. I assume we bring Sexton off the bench?

That is along the lines I was thinking. Sexton can become a super 6th man for the Jazz.

Re: Heat-Jazz-Pelicans
I don't see the Pelicans having any need for Clarkson or Duncan. They have better versions of both in CJ and Murphy. What they don't have is any kind of front court depth or a real PG.

The value is good for the Jazz. Problem is that we are burning 12mil in cap space. 12 mil that is earmarked for Lauri's R&E. However, if we trade Lauri and have the cap space afterwards I would not be opposed to this deal.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

No PG? What is Dejounte Murray? He can very much be a pure PG.

Robinson and Clarkson cancel each other out. That means Pelicans are trading Ingram for Kessler. I think we need a more value here.
Also i personaly think that Hawkins has to get chance this season and Pels need SF depth since Marshall/Daniels and in this case Ingram are gone. Having Clarkson, Robinson on top of CJ and Murray makes it impossible for Hawkins to get minutes.

I don't think Herro/Robinson and some 2nds nets Ingram no matter how many teams you want to wash it through. Heat are at least a 1st short in value here.

Understand your feedback. Robinson could and has played SF. Clarkson and Hawkins can play the backup guard positions. Correct me if I am wrong but both Murray and CJ can play the PG position correct? You can interchange the 4 players. This deal splits Ingram into a lot of shooting depth while also getting a great center for your roster. How much is Ingram realistically worth on an expiring with a big extension upcoming and the Pelicans seeming reluctant to pay him? I am honestly curious even if this is not the exact value.

Murray/Herb should be our starting backcourt next season. That means CJ is 6th men. We dont need 2 more in Clarkson and Robinson.
Ingram doesnt have a lot of value, but if the Pelicans dont find the right price they can still keep him for a season and trade at deadline or just let expire instead of taking dead mone...

Re: Heat-Jazz-Pelicans
How much value is this assigning Robinson?
I’d just take Ingram for Utah here.
If they are trading Lauri, I don’t think they should trade for Herro or Ingram. Not as assets at least..
But to me this could just be Kessler and Collins for Ingram, throw in a first. Then go get a center from Toronto, Portland, Orlando, Atlanta, etc once Lauri is resigned.

Yeah, this works a lot better without the Heat. Collins, Kessler, and a first for Ingram.

Even if the value is fair, this trade is just poor asset management. Trading your #2 for a back C who's an unproven starter leaves a lot to be desired & 1 pick is not going to cut it. Collins would also be an expensive backup 4/5 where NO's can just sign Reed or trade CJ, pick for Stewart cap space.
If this is BI's perceived value around the league, Griff needs to keep him.

If you’re right, add another first. But the value is better for NOP than the OP..
But Kessler is not some unproven rookie. He’s a 23 year old defensive center that has a really high floor. Probably a low ceiling. But he’s only 22 and has shown has belongs in rotations.
Either way, Utah should either cut out Miami or cut themselves out..

I'm familiar with Kessler's game. I'm not saying unproven rookie, I'm saying unproven starter.
If I'm the Jazz & Kessler could start, I wouldn't be trading him. The reason he's on the market is because his game & minutes are suited to a backup role & they cashing in on his potential tag.
If I'm trading my #2 for a backup C with "potential" & unnecessary fillers totaling 20-30m I'd want at least 2-3 picks.
