Sacramento wants him but the Bulls don’t want to take on the salary of either Barnes or Huerter. They still need a 3rd team somehow.

Now if the Clips want to send Norm Powell, the Bulls will take him and keep or he’d be easier to flip.

Spurs could open up space to absorb some / all of DeRozan if they wanted him or to receive assets in a facilitating role:

https://www.poundingtherock.com/2024/7/4/24191238/spurs-free-agency-trades-lauri-markkanen-demar-derozan

Otherwise I could see the Bulls taking on at least some salary if they are incentivized. Bucks could certainly use Powell or Mann if we could swing it. And not to deviate but I could see us being willing to take on PJ’s last year if we get other targets as part of the deal.

All that said there is a report the Bulls do like Huerter. But not sure I but it — especially if they are stuck with LaVine. That’d be an ugly tandem even for a tanking team.

Man, if we can somehow get in on this and grab Huerter....

Or if the Clippers miss out on bigger names maybe we take on some of their excess wings for one of our big men.

Lopez’s D or Bobby’s scoring and rebounding could be valued. And maybe Connaughton they’re willing to take since he’s very much not a criminal.

Playing with scenarios:

1. Powell for Brook.

2. Mann + PJ for Brook + assets TBD.

3. Mann for Connaughton + assets TBD.

4. Mann + PJ for Bobby + Connaughton.

5. Powell for Bobby + Connaughton.

True statement but also not very reassuring until he can show more on defense. As others mentioned, he looked lost and out of position far too often last season to be given the starting SG spot without showing significant improvement this offseason.

It's pretty easy to assume he'll look more comfortable after a training camp with Doc and his all star staff than as a rookie under Griffin.

Could we trade Brook to Sac, for just Heurter and maybe a pick. The salary difference frees up at least 5M. Maybe we trade Marjon into someone for cap space. Sign Paul Reed, Dan Theis or insert favorite FA min salary player at C.

PG Dame, Wright, AJJo
SG Heurter, AJG
SF Midds, AJJ, Pat
PF Giannis, Livingston, Smith
C Reed, Portis, Theis

I’d also consider starting AJJ and cementing Midds into the 6th man role

Yes. I expect a significant jump in year 2. If he's the same player this year as last year he'll likely never be a playoff rotation guy. But I don't think that will be the case.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I kind of like this idea in total but we'd still need to find a starting 2. The way teams would shred us on the perimeter would be astounding.

AJJ can improve his defensive technique (don't get so close to a player & shade them). Also should increase his anticipation some. But he can't change his quickness.

Who do you want in these rival guard match-ups, if you have to choose?

Maxey - Green
Brunson - Green
White/Holiday - Green
Mitchell - Green
Halburton - Neither Green nor Jackson, so Wright
Suggs - Green
Rozier - Green

There's literally not 1 where I'd task Jackson w/ the responsibility, or Lillard defensively, but he has to be out there for offense. Jackson's a big wing. He's being square-peg, round-holed for the 2g. It's not '21. We had Jrue back then.

We can experiment early season w/ all options if we don't land a sg upgrade in a trade. But Jackson's a bad theory & we really should make a strong effort to acquire a better 2g than we currently have.

Slight variation that might work,

SAC Lopez
GS Heurter, Pat C
MKE Wiggins

PG Dame, Wright, AJJo
SG Wiggins, AJG
SF Midds, AJJ
PF Giannis, Livingston, Smith
C Reed, Portis, Theis

We end up cutting around 8M in that type of deal. Might also be enough to sign Trent, slide Wiggins to SF and Midds goes to 6th man ?

This is just living in a fantasy world. Just because you like him overall as a player, doesn't mean he can handle every match-up better than actual guards. He has too high a center of gravity, & elongated stride.

There's no actual evidence for what you're asserting. Meanwhile, Green has actually contained guys like Maxey, Murry, & Lavine already. That's superior to anything AJJ's done against guards.

Why not call for Middleton to guard pg's next? When Middleton's healthy, he has near lateral ability, & better anticipation. AJJ's actual natural match-ups are Tatum/Brown, Butler, Bridges, etc.

I just want the Bucks to upgrade the 2 spot. If they can convince Trent Jr to take the minimum problem solved.

I’d feel more comfortable if we could dump Pat by attaching our 2031 2nd to open up enough space to offer GTJ the full TPMLE.

If we did that it would be a done deal with trent i feel . A paycut is 1 thing but a paycut all the way to vet minimum is totally different

I dont think Trent will take the minimum. No way in hell. Beas just got twice the min. Trent is at least one step up from Beas. He will get at least 9 to 10.

Why? Trents only skill is making unguarded 3s. Wright can handle the ball, and kills it from 3 in the playoffs. Trent is awful finishing at the hoop, Wright excells there.
