Thank you, Devonte, for the positive vibes and being a consummate pro.

And for that game winning bucket versus the Nuggets!

I really like Huerter on our team, Barnes no.......

But do we push the issue since we are helping them out and ask for Keegan Murray and another salary like Lyles(that we could keep or cut) to make it work?

If they really want DeRozan that bad they might bite.

You're the first person I thought of when I saw that tweet

JC is useful as a spot up bench role filler, especially on that contract. It's just the starting role that's a big issue. Would not like to see either go for bench purposes so I'm curious to see what we get up to.

Murray is a big no. Apparently negotiations for Lauri were going well between Kings and Jazz until Ainge went Ainge mode and asked for Keegan. End of discussion.

I actually like Barnes as he's bigger, has experience, is a two way player, shot 38% from 3 last season (fairly consistent in that range for his career) which is a touch higher than super ginge, and would slot in nicely as starting SF. Good BBIQ and can score for himself or off ball. Low maintenance player.

Huerter is younger, can hit 3s, more of a 2 than 3 from what I gather, slightly smaller, can't speak to his D. It's been a minute since we've had super ginge representation on the team.

I guess if either is an option we go with either the locker room vet who we can flip to a contender or the younger who we like and maybe think we can retain. Or whoever gets the most back in a trade.

Like on paper for purposes similar to why we got CP3, Barnes looks to fit the role a bit better. If we get Huerter then we're back to a glut of guards and who starts at 3?

Not to say we're done dealing with just this (assuming it goes through) so there may be other options but I'm not overly partial to Huerter over Barnes, nor am I against it should we choose that route.

What makes you like H over B?

Like you mentioned, Huerter is younger. He was also a starter for a good chunk of the season. I could see us sliding Vassell to the 3 to keep the ball out of his hands a little more That would help to keep Vassell from chucking early shot clock fade away threes if Huerter is playing the 2. Also, think of the marketing potential with the ginger thing!

Barnes was starting as well but in a different sense. I remember he wasn't really getting minutes later in the year and his numbers were down most of the season(trust me I know first hand from him killing my lineups on FanDuel)
Also Ive heard more than once about attitude issues with Barnes.

As far a defense both of them play in Sacramento where defense is an afterthought.

If you are asking me to choose its Huerter but I wouldnt cry if it was Barnes. Both can be useful.

I was asking if we try to get greedy with asking for Murray because we are doing Sacramento a favor in this purposed deal. What if they have a sure thing worked out with DeRozan and it all depends if we go along? We could really put the pressure on them. We dont need this deal like they do. It cant hurt to ask.

Lord knows Sacramento have done much more dumber things in the past.

Harrison Barnes is a Spur -- kinda didn't see that coming

Interesting stuff

I don't have an issue with Barnes game, haven't seen too much of him since his Dallas Mavs days.. seems still like a solid player with good IQ, and has improved his overall jumpshot reliability past mid-range in recent years.

I imagine he is going to stick around for a little while at least, good vet. at forward to have on the team as a bridge to someone younger in time. Reliable to take some pressure off Wemby.

He can play either forward spot, and I would guess will start to give the team some more size at forward. Maybe playing next to Sochan.

I was kind of hoping for a tiny bit more since we were doing Sacramento a solid to make this happen but Im good with it. With all these picks and Wemby (please dont get hurt) we should be at least relevant for the next 15 years

Does this trade means that bassey and champagnie are cut ?

Or can SAS use the MLE to sign Paul ? (I know you can't sign a free agent with cap space AND use MLE the same year, but i'm not sure if it's apply when you use your cap space in a trade ?)

We definitely have to clear cap space. How we do it is what everyone has their eyes on.

Several options on the table to do it.

Good job, got a pick swap for free. Barnes I don't love but he can still be an ok rotation player for some years, so a big win in every way.

We are winning on the margins but I remain concerned about the overall direction.
Still very dissapointed we did not use the pick. CP3 is a good placeholder signing but is certainly done for within 2 years max. Would rather have had the flyer on Rob, Topic or Bub.
I am not sold on Castle whatsoever, at least as our PG. He is a SG that cannot shoot and is not a primary playmaker.

So right now we have nothing but Wemby and some guys with 5th starter potential at best. Vassel could maybe be more but I am not sold, good numbers on bad team guy like Johnson. His defence obly exists in terms of reputation, not a great passer, he is just a floorspacer, I think, though his extra offensive skills make him a better end of shotclock last resort guy than lets say Hield, but he is not going to be good enough to run any offense for.

We probably will be slightly better than last year, as being even worse would be hard, but I see no promise at all. Wemby is going to have an insane load if we don't get some cheap talent very soon.

Not confirmed yet but if true oof we have some holes to fill. Hopefully they include Mamu. And Cedi. They'd be my favourites to keep but at what cost I don't know.

I've just done the math, and by renoucing to the rights on osman, barlow and mamu, and cutting Bassey and Champagnie, the spurs are right under the salary cap ($140,221,370 with a salary cap at $140,588,000)

There will be the $8M room exception to possibly re-sign any of these players if the spurs want to keep them and they don't agree to sign at the veteran minimum.

Hopefully we somehow retain Cedi and I guess we have some plans to make up for Dom unless he comes back at the minimum.

That's three rotation players. One is a terrific off ball 3s shooter and driver, two are bigs.

We have some holes to fill.

Barlow is the only real loss IMO.

Maybe we can sign the Latvian Laser to a vet minimum to replace Osman? GET THE BAND BACK TOGETHER!!!
