Official: Miles Bridges back to Charlotte 3 years $75M

Post#1 » by HornetJail » Sat Jul 6, 2024 6:58 pm

If Miles Bridges was on the brink of signing a 5 year deal at this same price two years ago when he was arrested, not being able to keep his hands off his lady cost him a total of $43M plus whatever he was fined on his contract last season. Discuss.

I'm not convinced either Bridges or Charlotte really wants this, but neither has good options right now.

Hoping there’s a bunch of outs for Charlotte. Or some clauses on conduct. Guess there’s not some major FA for them but still.

Happy to hear this. I was really worried the Cavs were going to get roped into something stupid.

I think something like this was always the most logical outcome. Hopefully some non GTD or Team option on the last year.

reported as fully guaranteed, no outs either way...

i was hoping there is at least some language in the contract that gives us an out if he repeat offends, but not holding my breath

Wow. I wanted the Pistons to pick him up, and at that price point seems like we could have easily beat that.

That out exists in the CBA, no?

I imagine the CBA has mechanisms to void the contract if he has more issues.

I don’t like him.

So I’m glad to see him officially staying in Charlotte rather than coming to Detroit (though I think the Harris deal already made it evident we weren’t going that way.

If CHA is smart, they will rehab his value and send him packing.

Yes.

There are always morality clauses required in all professional sports contracts. They are sometimes stringent on requirements (ie - actual conviction vs accused) but not always and I would not be in the least bit surprised that there are additional provisions specifically in this contract that will not be reported in the media because they are private info.

Not thrilled we are bringing him back, but this is a super tradable contract, and some team is going to get desperate and need his scoring at the deadline if Charlotte isn't making the playoffs. He effortlessly averages 20 ppg and is athletic and doesn't get injured, that's just the way it is in the NBA. So the Lakers, Cavs, or Kings will end up with him anyway most likely

Feels bad for Charlotte fans. He's not a good player and he is a terrible person, they should've let him walk and moved on from him.

20 ppg on 55.6% TS and putrid defense, making starter money for 3 years, that's not a tradeable contract at all, he is bad. Miller and Salaun are the future, Charlotte should've let him go.

What is his TS when playing with LaMelo?

The last stretch of basketball they played together was jan 12th to 26th, Miles Bridges TS during that period was 55.6%. You guys have a nice core, Bridges is bad.

Don’t want to give opinion until the details are released. But hate it unless second/third year are unguaranteed..
