Greece and Spain (much less but still) scare me as a canadian, not really worried about Australia. FIBA patty is no more.

Finland's defense is way better than the Bahamas, and way more physical also. But still, this Spain is just a mid level European national team in terms of talent.

Just as I thought Lithuania would have no problems vs Italy. Puerto Rico might be more dangerous team for Lithuania.

He almost win final 4 MVP this season, honestly, probably should have won. Yeah, he is also the guy whobwill miss 10 staight FTs, but I think Lessort has proved to be a starveven by your definition. I think Nebo will be the same.

You are really a huge Lessort fan with how you overrate him.

Nebo is better than Lessort is.

No he is not.
Lessort could have been the EuroLeague's MVP this season. Nebo couldn't.
He is a pretty good player but he isn't Lessort.

I was afraid of Melli, bug just disappeared after first few good minutes. This one was easy, I do expect finals to be hard. Will have several hours rest advantage tho.

Finland was so close to upsetting Spain without Markkanen in their home turf, but their concept fell apart in the last two minutes of the game and the execution was dreadful. All game long Finland had trouble containing Willy Hernangomez, having Markkanen would have helped certainly. Oh well...

After what I have seen it is quite easy to pick Bahamas over Spain, as Bahamas has the capabilities to neutralize Spain's strengths, for example Hernangomez down low. And yeah, always a shame to see Lorenzo Brown on Spain roster, hopefully they reconsider hiring of foreign mecs in the future and go with an all-spanish national team roster. Just be proud of what you got and say no to mecs!

I think Bahamas and Puerto Rico might get it done. Should be some fun games on Sunday.

Technically Ignas Brazdeikis is naturalized. Was born in Lithuania but played for Canada's u16 and u17 selections

Few nations still holding the front. Serbia as well. Of course we can debate legitimacy of these players, that Finnish guy does not count as naturalized player, he is Finnish, but is he, he is definitely an American. Lithiania are very strongly against naturalized players, they do not even consider a foreign coach for some reason. but Buzelis will play for them, and while he will not count as naturalized player, a lot of people say he is as American as Lorenzo Brown. I mean, he is, but he is far more Lithuanian than Brown is Spanish tho.

Always hated this naturalized player thing, but we could live with it, because at first, only small teams did that. But when Spain does it, and do not even see the problem in it, its just pathetic imo. I think I would just not cheer for my team anymore, if they did that.

He has a Finnish mother, so a completely different case than some foreign merc like Lorenzo Brown. Finland do not have any naturalized players on the roster.

I do not think he counts as naturalized, does he count as naturalized? It looked for many years that he will stick to Canada. As he repped them in juniors, and he was presented as Canadian in Nike hoop summit, but I dont know the rules there, I think uou can still switch sides when its just junior team. Walter Tavares played for Spain juniors for example.

The outrage surrounding Spain is mainly because they're considered a basketball powerhouse and they actually still produce excellent young players, but most of them go to waste. The Spanish basketball federation has no interest in fixing that issue...

The countries you mentioned are small. Croatia doesn't even really have pro basketball. As for Italy, Mannion has Italian roots and speaks the language, though his grammar is mid at best.

But, anyway, even the US naturalized Embiid. So it's basically just Latvia, Serbia, Lithuania, Canada, Germany, Brazil that don't have naturalized players, though Germany did at times in the past.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.
