I hope they keep Micic. They don't really have any high level playmakers besides LaMelo.

So I guess Reggie stays?
Makes me think teams/deals are brewing for Micic.
Hopefully we can still move Reggie's salary for a rotation 4/5 or a wing at least

As our starting 5 looks really good to me. Now please just be healthy so we can see what they look like together.

Even if some team makes a strong offer to buy high on him?
What would be your demand for a return or what would sway you to listen on him?
I don't consider him any sort of sacred cow. I think we need to turn one of our PG into a big via trade market if we can't sign Precious or Paul Reed. And I don't think Tre Mann is a piece you move just because Micic is the superior playmaker. Mann is young and can grow with the core.
So which PG do you move from the surplus, knowing Reggie Jackson cost a team to move. He's not going to return a big who can displace Nick from C2.

Re: 2024 Offseason Thread
Wendell Carter is the dream acquisition, but I don't think the Magic will trade him to us. He's too good of a fit for this roster, we're a playoff team if he's added for bench pieces.

Re: 2024 Offseason Thread
at least Micic can do a poor mans LaMelo impersonation in practice with his passing, which will get the young guys on the second line in practice some experience and they won't be totally whiplashed if they are ever ready to run with the big boys going from Mann to Ball. keep your head on a swivel and stay engaged in a play even if you dont think its comin to you, cause it might be

I mean, if a team was offering a 1st round pick for Micic Id be listening, but I wouldn't be interested in moving him for 2nds (which im guessing is probably the market for him right now but idk).
Mann seems more like a SG/combo guard in the Malik Monk vein and I see him and Micic as complimentary players that you use together, not necessarily as two players competing for the same minutes/role.
There isn't really anyone on the team that Id be super motivated to move at this point in time (besides Miles lol) and I would look to add one big with the room mid-level exception and possibly another on a vet minimum deal.
I kind of like how their team is set up for this season.

Re: 2024 Offseason Thread
Well, there has to be at least one more move…right? I used it has to be situational, meaning it could be an opportunity to aquire a bigger need while trading someone we might not want to but could spare. Micic has appeal to teams like Denver due to his skill set, and his age isn’t ideally within our expected time frame…but he is a good, pure PG who would help us a lot! Maybe we swap him to the Nuggets for Nnaji.
Who plays the reserve point?

I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Denver Nnaji is a really bad basketball player that makes 8mm a year. No thank you. Much better to just sign a free agent body.

You see, I'm super motivated to remove Nick Richards from his post. He does not deserve NBA starts through a prolonged injury to the starter.
If the cost of displacing Richards (demoting him to C3) is a PG2 north of 30? I will move on it with raging motivation.
Especially when I have young Tre Mann who serves just fine as a primary playmaker leading a second unit. At some point I see Nick Smith Jr. (Instead of Micic) alongside Mann and that's an intriguing backcourt that provides sufficient playmaking for a bench guard duo.
If the risk is one where we throw NSJ into the fire, I say let him toast marshmallows.
Either player could challenge Josh Green for minutes in the coming years
I suspect Lee shares your sentiments - he really likes this roster. He trusts Peterson.
One more move for a big for C2 and Peterson gains my full trust.
This could be his stick-JB-with-Plumlee moment, fire JB, then draft a viable starting center with DPOY potential.
Get your coach what he needs.

Why do y'all keep proposing Micic for Nnaji?
That dude is a **** bum. Why would we gift them a capable backup PG?

Sorry, I don’t want him…should have clarified that this is one of those speculative deals that has circulated online because Denver supposedly admires Micic and salaries are close. Frankly I doubt we find a better center than Richards in free agency. Who might be available for a reasonable trade (better than him)? What if we shipped out Nick and a reserve guard (not Mann) for a better 5, and sign a cheap deep reserve center?
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Signing Paul Reed or Precious Achiuwa seems adequate for this.

McGowens is getting absolutely mugged by his defender. Borderline cheap shot stuff.

Yeah that last one was brutal. Cut or not to hell with that kind of stuff.
