He signed for 80%. That almost never happens. Does anyone remember the last time a first round pick signed for 80% of the scale?

I guess he really wanted to come over and the Knicks said "OK, but it'll cost ya".

They said the Knicks paid $850k to buyout his contract overseas so they kind of paid 100 percent in a way. It's a good way for management to save some of the money that counts towards the books. Other than that, dunno what other perks the Knicks have offered for the young man. Shows his commitment though, he gets to be in NY now instead of being stashed overseas.

Going by the clips of him, he has no bully ball tendencies nor is he a paint anchor. If anything, he needs to become more refined with his body mechanics so he can be an effective finesse player. He either has some young guy clumsiness he has to grow into or he's just kind of raw. He's a project and they evidently see some real upside to him, but it is very hard to see that in his videos. I don't see it yet. Anyway, I doubt he ever becomes a rim protector of any kind, maybe just a solid help defender.

Nowadays cats want everybody to be a small ball C. I’m sure at some point Brunson will be suggested at the 5.
