Pelinka needs to get off his ass and make some moves. Tyus Jones is still out there and we could use another ball handler, we need more shooting as well.

That's a sad list... Pre-COVID there was some talent on this list. No one impactful is still available.

Yet another year in the LeBron era where the ones looking to get on a team to win a chip go somewhere else.

I get the "3 star appraoch" not sustainable take. Under the current CBA, having 3 max contract means you have very limited money for role players. That is, you are probably siging vet mins to fill out the team.

The most cost controlled wing option maybe DDR and miles bridges who is not in a position to command a max now. A sign and trade will not get any of your first round picks involved. If Pelinka is continue to play the waiting game beyond 06July, he needs to waive someone or trade away someone for salary relief.

Other than that, Pelinka may consider cam Johnson, Grant and Kuz not being able to carry the team post James era. However, if you want quality wings, you need FRPs. Look at the Mikal Bridges trade and Lauri's asking price.

Another forward who I dun know if he is available for trade is Johnathan Issac of Orlando. He can serve a few needs of the team. But he is only eligible for trade until December.

Maybe the Lakers should try to dig the diamond in the rough like Ariza and Rui. I am also curious about the development of Max Lewis. Is he ready to contribute? That can mean a lot to the team

Yup. Not terrible, but I don't figure it to be an upgrade essentially.

Brown succeeded on those Nets & Nuggets teams because of A+ spacing. His slashing & open 3FGA #s will get limited because our lack of spacing in comparison to those teams.

Nah.. We don't need a full time $20m center with AD. Waste of money that the broke blondie doesn't have. Just need better vet minimum backups than braindead Hayes and Wood/Bron, who aren't really centers.

The biggest area of need is two way wings/guards to plug that soft perimeter defense.

Edit:

Castleton is our back up. What a brilliant game.

Sign a Biyombo or Cody Zeller and keep it moving. Don't need to spend for a center back up.

Celtics just won with 3/4 stars. Nugs paying MPJ a max too, so that's 3 stars. Both teams retaining the 'stars' thus far too.

This is Rob/Lakers gaslighting us as usual. The CBA wasn't released yesterday, so this is just the usual snake oil BS to cover up for their incompetence. It's not just his incompetence, because his primary role appears to be carrying out & taking the heat for Jeanie & Rambii's grander decision making/f*ck ups. And if I'm being honest, I figure Rob's due for promotion for the job he's doing right now.

The three star model is & has always been tougher to build around, unless you have Steph @ 11/yr, or Worthy @ his rookie deal before players got really savvy with negotiation. But Lakers haven't had that problem for the last 15 years since Dr Buss, and continue to be a bottom feeder team, aside from 2020.

The cancer that ails this franchise is Jeanie Buss & her cronyism.

Caleb Martin also gone.

Lakers wanting to keep their picks and at the same time not signing any FAs is as asinine as Biden printing money calling it the Inflation Control Bill :banghead: :banghead:

The first ball to drop will be Wood and a second into space.

After that, I'd hope they'd trade Vincent, Hayes, and a heavily protected first for Robert Williams III.

These two moves get the Lakers three million under the second apron and create two roster spots to make larger moves.

The biggest mistake we made post championship was to listen to Lebron and AD and trade for Westbrook. Not only did we kill our depth, we burned multiple picks having to get off his contract. The super team model is dead it’s all about two stars and depth.

Anthony Irvin swears that Rob & Jeanie were hyped at the very mention of Russ being a Laker because Kobe had said that Russ was the player that resembled him the closest. Exact quote from Aug 26, 2016 -

"When I turn on the TV and I watch players play, the player that plays with the same kind of emotion and grit and competitive intensity is Russell [Westbrook],” Bryant said of the All-Star guard."

Here's another video of Kobe talking about Russ -

https://www.tiktok.com/@inspiredbyhoops/video/7191254851488075010

It's convenient to assume that they kneeled down to Lebron/AD for that one decision and refused basically everything else they asked for publicly before and after the Russ transfer -

- Fire Walton around 2020 ASG
- Ty Lue
- Hire Kidd as the HC, not Vogel
- Dame
- Keeping Caruso
- Keeping Dudley as a coach/player
- Bringing Demar 2 years ago before Russ
- Kyrie
- Another GM
- Constantly asking two top 75 players, who just brought you a banner to prove themselves to be worthy of investing in
- To move Russ 2021 deadline / 2022 off season
- AD publicly asking not to play the 5
- Wanting Ham fired back in December
- Keeping Phil Handy, who got fired and swears not to return now
- Their current demand for roster moves

The reality -
- Rob's reputation around the league is well known. He can't get 80% of the teams / agents to answer his phone
- They've always had to lean on Lebron/Klutch's help in signing/transferring players when they deem fit
- Russ may have been Lebron/AD's brainchild, but like everything else, not their decision to make or a responsibility they get paid for

Once again - The only cancer that ails this franchise is Jeanie Buss!

So with Demar off the trading block and gone to kings - basically two picks.
What does this leave Lakers?

- Lauri gonna cost too much, forgot that pipe dream lol

- J. Grant = seems to be only option??

- B. Lopez = Gonna cost at least 1 pic and Is he worth trading for?

- "King" Kuzma - Just rumor talk??

What else Is there?

Just curious. Would you take Lavine, Craig, a FRP and, maybe, SRPs for Dlo Rui Reddish and Wood?

You will then have 3 FRPs.

Sign DVD

You have a really solid 9 man roster

LBJ, AD, Lavine, Reaves, Vando, Gabe, DVD, Craig and Christie.

The main need will be a Big to pair with or play behind AD. Hayes and Castleton will be the guys temporary. After the trade, the main assets will be Gabe Vincent and the 3 FRPs

Just a trade idea if we want something as upgrade while not willing to give up the 2 FRPs

Dlo's expiring conract will be more valuable come trade deadline.

Wing 3&D:

Grant
Cam Johnson
DFS
Kuz

Lakers will get under 2nd apron with $1m discount from LeBron. We will need to trade to reduce roster spot but no need to rush things as players are still too expensive. DeMar at $74 is laughable.

I know many want each summer to be roster overhaul period but that’s not how we build a championship team. It takes the right structure and foundation.

Replace Ham with JJ and build a player’s development. Give minutes and build on good contract youth:

AR
Vando

Plus

Max Christie
Knecht
Max Lewis

We got to stop giving away assets for marginal improvements. We got a good roster but the tweak might not happen until trading deadline to see which players fit under JJ’s game structure and who struggles. We def need more defenders and 2 way players surrounding Bron and AD.

AD needs to be our focus point of attack.

Not Yo Ham Lakers!

Lauri is available, but it'll take Austin, whose contract is better for Jeanie's pocket than the player himself, so it's not happening.

You just named 3 other options. Jearmi's contract is super toxic, which is why he's not worth 2 picks.

- B. Lopez = Gonna cost at least 1 pic and Is he worth trading for?

Castleton looked awesome yesterday. Promote him and sign a non-Hayes vet min big. We need perimeter and PG reinforcements, not a 20 mil Center in the position of one of our best players

- "King" Kuzma - Just rumor talk??
Very real talk from what I hear - Anthony/Jovan/LFR pod

I do not understand this "Jerami Grant's contract is toxic" take. He's salary is 50th in the league overall.

Forget players like Zach Lavine and Ben Simmons, Grant is paid less than Hartenstein, Jordan Poole, and Jrue Holiday.

Meanwhile, Grant averaged 21 ppg, 41% 3pm, 81.7% ft in 31 mins.

I'm not saying the Lakers should trade for him, but Grant is a good player.
Rip City, baby!!!!
