He had the best defensive finals ever by a perimeter player and came from 3-1 down to beat the best regular season team ever by putting up 41/16/7/3/3, 41/8/11/4/3, and 27/11/11/2/3 in the last 3 games. Good luck finding another Finals that’s even close.
Also, I’m not a “LeBron fan”. I just appreciate his greatness. My 2 favorite players ever are Dirk and Jokic.
Your opinion but there are plenty of all time finals performances, just to name a couple are
Jordan 93 finals
31/7/5 5 steals
42/12/9 2 steals
44/9/6 2 steals
55/8/4
41/7/7 2 steals
33/8/7
Or 2000 Shaq finals
43/19/4 3 blocks
40/24/4 3 blocks
33/13/3 2 blocks
36/21/2 2 blocks
35/11/3 2 blocks
31/12/1 4 blocks
You can call GS greatest RS finals team ever but they had some injuries, sustained a significant suspension of a player during that series and Irving was magnificent (plus he hit the biggest shot in the series)
As far as “finding an individual finals series thats just as close” here are two right here. There are others as well by other all time great players. Dirk himself led his team to a 2-1 comeback against a team with 3 allstar players in their prime.

The 2016 finals is still in the short list with the one of Jordan in 1993,Shaq in 2000 like you have mentionned.Jordan and Shaq was maybe better on offense in 1993 and 2000 and on defense,LBJ had a huge edge,he did everything including the biggest play of the 2016 finals and maybe the biggest defensive play in NBA history

Wilt was never even the best player in the league outside of 1966 and he played against a super thin talent pool. I guess he was at least better than Kobe though.
Do you mean 1967?
I’m not a big Wilt guy, but the 5 players I’ve seen argued as GOAT are Jordan, LeBron, Kareem, Russell, and Wilt. It seems odd that Kobe, Curry, and Jokic are options but not Wilt.

So his block on Iggy was a bigger moment than Kyrie Irvings 3? Why?
Jordan stealing the ball from Malone and then going down and burying the game winner in 98 finals against Utah is less impressive than James block on Iggy? Why?
How about we just say they are all impressive? Why makes James block more impressive than Jordans steal?

Does your or my comments mean more or have more substance than a poll of over 100 people? Why?
Does making political comments make certain posters seem more in tune lol? Im really confused by these political comments. Can you explain their purpose to me plz?

I said maybe the biggest defensive play in NBA history....The shot of Kyrie was huge(same for the steal of Jordan) so I have no problem if you think it was the most important play, like the Paxton shot in 1993 or the Steve Kerr shot in 1997....Everything will be remember forever

I rarely make political comments I hate to do it and it was probably the first time I did that in this forum but it's just that the results of the polls mean nothing to me when millions of people will vote for Trump to be President again

It’s worth noting that “best Finals performance of all time” should be a holistic assessment of every game in the series, not just the last three games. LeBron was pretty good but definitely not historically great in the first four games of the series (25/11/8 on +1.5 rTS% with 6 turnovers a game), while his team went down 3-1. Obviously he played great overall in the final three games of the series and his team won, so it was a great series from him overall. But if we’re talking about best Finals performances of all time, the entire picture has to matter. And LeBron didn’t just parachute into that series with his team down 3-1.

That guy's always accusing James fans of posting on multiple accounts. It's quite comical.
Lebron isn't even close to my favourite player actually, he's the obvious GOAT though. Anyone being objective can see that. If Jordan had played today instead of the weak 90s, nobody would think Jordan was the GOAT.

Could've just had the poll with MJ/Bron/Kareem/Russell, honestly. Maaaybe Wilt. Any other opinion is just trying to be different for the sake of being different.

Re: Official RGM GOAT Debate Thread (So y'all don't make new ones every day)
So many times I've seen people saying Jordan's legacy/legend grew after retirement, and that when the same thing happens to James, he'll become the consensus GoAT. I always have to explain to them that it doesn't work that way, it's the opposite: players are viewed as less great, not greater, over time. We get further away from seeing it, and we esteem it less. Also, other great players come along and muddy the waters.
None of that is new. What just occurrs to me for the first time, though, is that the people who say this about MJ's "legend growing" are actually proving my point while they say it: they're collectively lessening his legend, not realizing that the next group is standing in line to do the same thing to James once he's been retired for a while.

All human life on the earth is like grass, and all human glory is like a flower in a field. The grass dries up and its flower falls off, but the Lord’s word endures forever.

Jordan was easily the best of the non-centers.
Comparing Jordan to the great centers is more difficult.

Haha I could easily just had Jordan/Lebron ... But where would be the fun In that?

A lot of people can be biased and just go by favouritism alone, I mean my 10 top Is a little biased I have Bird at number 3 behind MJ and Russell, but I'm a fan of Bird.
My Unbiased top 10 doesn't have him In the top 5 but he still top 10

But as for the goat It's def MJ even though I'm pretty sure I voted Kobe In the poll (when I created the thread drinking can't remember If I actually did or not haha) keep that Kobe vote on the down low

Is there a way of calculating the total number of threads started about who's the GOAT in the history of RGM?
Over or under 1000?
*edit to add: MJ
